Title: Most effective text for spoilers
Post by: Matt on December 17, 2015, 10:51:27 AM
:(  Can someone help?  I read somewhere on the board that KC showed the best combination of text colors to use when posting spoilers that works for both the Dark and Mocha boards. I can't find it.

I'm going to try to figure it out. :)

[ quote][ color=black]test[ /color][ /quote] This works great for dark boards. But is readable on Mocha.

Very slightly readable on Dark.

Readable in Mocha - no go.

Slightly readable on mocha.

Not too bad, though.

Beautiful on Dark.

Slightly readable on Mocha. The Best? This one, or above.

The newer versions of SMF forums allow for spoiler tags, so you can click on a button to reveal the text.

  This one is close: test

I asked Richard for a tweak to the code to give us spoiler text.

I keep asking him for favors.  :-\

I'm in mocha.  Got to try it with both board flavors.

See, I had to make it hard for you, Conan. That's why I'm putting it in quotes, because that gives us a dark background in both the Dark and Mocha boards -- but the Mocha board has the quote background as a chocolate brown, and it's black on the Dark board... so I'm trying to find a color that lies somewhere inbetween the two.

Otherwise, KC will read all our spoilers, since 4998 people use Dark, and she uses Mocha.

Yea something that works for both is tough...I say the Mocha folks should join the "Dark" side.

Conan, that will never happen.  KC has been a mocha girl for a very long time now.

Okay, so until we find out if we can get a board tweak with spoiler tags....  the best I've found is this color code:

32250c

And to use it, it needs to be inside color brackets (you can type your message, and then highlight it and click on "Change Color" and then choose any color, and then go in and remove the word of the color, and replace with the pound sign and then 32250c.  So it looks like this:

[ color=#32250c]test[ /color]

And THEN, after that, you need to highlight it again and put it in a quote.

[ quote][ color=#32250c]test[ /color][ /quote]

(shown above, but remove the spaces and it works like this:

Quote
test

This is what that looks like on the mocha board (it's readable, but.... a little difficult):

Same codes on the dark board:

Using the subscript codes as the most inside code helps a little too.

[ quote][ color=#32250c][ sub]test[ /sub][ /color][ /quote]

Without spaces:

Anyway... it will help for everyone but KC, so Schofield Kid doesn't need to avoid the board for 3 days until he sees the new Star Wars movie.

I switched to Mocha today... I'll give it a few days and see if I can get used to it.

I still remember a fun little April fools prank where the board was supposedly changing to, what was it Matt, blueberry style?  The shade was annoying, and lots of folks bought it.

I'm a Mocha Forever person. But don't mind me ... I don't care about spoilers. At least not for anything related to Star Wars!

I've been reading the board for a month now and came upon it -- the thread is still here, but the image is gone. :(

I didn't have Photoshop back then, so I can only imagine I somehow managed to screencap the board and change all the colors to blue and purple for the Blueberry Flavor. Wish I still had that hard drive with those images on it -- we lost so many photos.
