What is your favorite quote from Magnum Force? Describe the scene and indicate who said it and to whom.
-
It was my signuture line when I signed on in ’98.
“Man’s got to know his limitations”… 8)
To Briggs by Callahan at The End... ;)
It’s a recurring diolog theme throughout the movie by John Milius that has since become famous through the likes of Carpenter and McTieran...

I just re-watched the movie and I decided to write down my favorite exchange in the movie. It's when Harry and Early are tailing Palancio's car. Harry tells Early to roll down his window as he drives up next to the other car:
Harry: Say, excuse me. Could you help us out?
Driver: What do you want?
Harry: Maybe you cold help us, we seem to be lost. We were looking for the entrance to San Quentin. You know where that is?
Driver: It's back there. Don't you see too good?
Harry: Yeah, I see fine. I just wanted to know whether you knew where San Quentin was. And you do, don't you, a@*hole.
I've seen Magnum Force quite a few times, and that scene never fails to crack me up. ;D

There`s no doubt.DAmbrosia is right. This is the film`s most catching quote.

(Hemlock, I edited your post above because for some reason... what you quoted from D'Amb's post had all kinds of weird symbols in it. ??? So I fixed it. Don't know why that happened.)
I love the "limitations" line, and it's one that I probably use more than any other from any Eastwood film. There's a few others that I like a lot too:
I'm afraid you misjudged me.
Briggs was right. You guys don't have enough experience.

Thanks. It looks much better now ;)

There's alot of good ones in Magnum Force, too many so, to pick a favourite.
-
Definitly two of my favorites... other than the ones already posted of course...
quote 1-
Lieutenant Briggs: Suppose they panic and start shooting?
Harry Callahan: Nothing wrong with shooting as long as the right people get shot!
quote 2-
Harry Callahan: You know those guys?
Early Smith: They came through the Academy after me. They stick together like flypaper, you know? Everybody thought they were queer for each other.
Harry Callahan: Tell you something. If the rest of you could shoot like them, I wouldn't care if the whole damn department was queer.
-
I really like that second quote you posted too, chum. That's another favorite of mine.
-
well the 2 ones i could think of when seeing this thread have already been mentioned. Of course there the
A man's got to know his limitations
and then
Harry Callahan: Tell you something. If the rest of you could shoot like them, I wouldn't care if the whole damn department was queer.
;D

Harry's smile I guess says it all.
:D

my favorite line in magnum force was harry's reply to the viglante motorcycle cops in a confrontational discussion, "i believe you BOYS misjudged me!"
i love the way clint performed that scene and stood his ground towards their racist and narrow-minded mentalities and foolish expectations of harry's support for their erroneous behaviors

Actually, Harry's line is simply ...
I'm afraid you've misjudged me.

Magnum Force had so many great lines. Ricca's limo (Something about the way the driver says "The Double Line" always cracks me up), in the airport (May I make a suggestion....), the airplane scene (Excuse me Captain.....I know this may sound silly, but can you fly? Nope....never had a lesson), Clint and Early following the limo (Excuse me, excuse me, we seem to be lost), the mourgue scene (Speaking of whale $#!t, what have you turned up, Briggs?), Sonny (Try knocking on the door), and last but not least, "A Man's got to know his limitations"

There are a lot of great quotes in this film and everyone has mentioned them, but the one that I love is Harry's reply to the co pilot when asked if he could fly.
"Nope, never had a lesson!"
Then there's this slight pause where Harry turns to see the reaction of the terrorist behind him with the gun and Harry hits the brakes on the plane.
