My grandmother told me that Clint shoot a movie in Anson Tx (right next to Abline). The movie had a little trailer diner that was in frount of a 2 story house. Even if you look hard enough you can see the Town Hall building like it is hard to see it is like 5 stories and it right in the middle. Nother fact one summer I could have meet Jenny C. Riley the country singer. I was in jr. high school when they were doing a celibration for her uncle. My dad said he rubed elbows with her at her uncles gas staion. ;o(. I was just wondering if any one know. Last time I was down there the place was still there along with the tailer, but the people weren't taking good care of it. Thank you LadyHawk

Welcome to the Eastwood Web Board, LadyHawk.
The film, A Perfect World, starring Mr. Eastwood and Kevin Costner, was filmed in and around the area of Abilene, Texas.
I don't know if that's the movie you are thinking about or not. Hope that helps.

mgk, that was my first thought, too. However, I'm pretty sure there's no diner in A Perfect World like the one LadyHawk describes. ("Dotty's Squat 'n' Gobble" appears to be a wooden building and no other structures are visible.)
Perhaps the film in question is The Stars Fell on Henrietta, which Eastwood produced but did not direct or appear in. It was released in 1995 and starred Robert Duvall, Frances Fisher, and Aidan Quinn (and featured Eastwood's daughter with Frances Fisher, Franny, who was then an infant). It's set in the mid-1930s and features a down-at-the-heels "oil man" (Duvall) who convinces a poor farm family that there's oil on their property.
According to the Internet Movie Database (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0114534/locations), it was filmed in Anson, Texas, as well as Abilene, Austin and Bartlett, Texas. It's the only film in the IMDb for which Anson, Texas is given as a location.
(The same source has the following locations for A Perfect World: Austin, Texas; Beaufort, South Carolina; Birmingham, Alabama; Brackettville, Texas; Huntsville, Texas; and Martindale, Texas.)
I can't recall a diner like the one described in The Stars Fell on Henrietta, either, but it's been a number of years since I've seen it. It doesn't look to be available on DVD. I have an old laserdisc of it and if I ever get the time to watch it and I find a shot showing the diner as described, I'll post a capture.

The movie that was filmed in Anson Texas using a diner and the name Mercury, NM was "Independance Day" not the sci-fi movie.
This was filmed in the mid-80s and it starred David Keith (Officer & a Gentleman). The leading lady (can't remember her name) was an aspiring photographer who worked in the diner, but wanted to get out of town and in an arts school. David played the failed college guy and returned home as a failure love interest.
Kinda coming of age movie.
