The last one is the least likely to happen i think.A shame.... :-\
-
How come noone else has voted here? That kinda makes me feel dumb for bringing this up. :(
-
I want to put "direct and star in another western", Raver. Why can't that be an option? ???
-
it is time to saddle up again and ride a horse
-
Well, that is kinda what i thought Daisy.;)

Except that you've got direct another western and star in a western as two separate catagories, Rave! ???
-
You can vote for both then! ;) No damage done.

Except that that splits my vote, see? You set the options up in opposition to one another!
Could have been better thought through - see my poll in the off-topic column! ;)
How Grimy - http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=922;start=2 (http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=922;start=2)
Now that's how to set out a poll with intelligence, precision and relevance. You could learn a lot from me... :P

Interesting that his audience, comprised of this group, are drawn between what is considered high brow (art house films) and what is considered low brow (horse operas). I guess Clint has helped close the gulf between the two. HPD was a bit shaky, albeit interesting. When ever I watch Whales I wonder what was directed by Clint and what was directed by Kaufman.
-
Well, let's don't draw too many conclusions until more of this group, as you call them, have voted. Only nine members of this group have voted so far. Let's give it a little more time and see if we can get a better representation and see if it stays the same or changes.

Considered by you! Where have you been? We're a long way from Cahiers Du Cinema you know. John Ford is now a seriously respected film-maker, so is Howard Hawkes. Most critics now acknowledge the western as being among the highest forms of cinema.
You don't get much more "Art" than Unforgiven! Where's the division?
Low brow? Try Every Which Way But Loose...
When ever I watch Whales I wonder what was directed by Clint and what was directed by Kaufman.
Clint took over very early. If you've seen Bronco Billy, Unforgiven, Play Misty For Me or Sudden Impact you'll know it was no fluke! Believe it or not - the boy can direct, all on his own!
BTW - Where do you watch the "Whales"? From Captain Hook's Pirate Ship? ;)
-
Daisy, I do consider horse operas a great cinema genre, but you must admit that since we're speaking of general audiences, westerns are consdiered low brow, and we might be a long way from Cahiers Du Cinema, but it's that film magazine that first started treating westerns as high art (especially Hawkes' films). So there. :P

That was my point, Windy! It has been a long long time since Westerns were dismissed by critics as low brow.
Go :P yourself, by the way. >:(
-
You wrote "we're a long ways from Cahiers Du Cinema" I assumed you meant this group, as being far from classic French film crit.
But anyway, I stand by my original accurate notice that general audience consider westerns low brow, and that Clint has helped change that.
Are you pregnant or something?
-
Well, you sure are critical!First saying clint wants to be honored all the time, the calling some of his biggest achievements as a director low-brow...Geez, maybe you're the pregnant one! ;D
This is not the anti-eastwood web board, you know!
-
Okay....let's all stay focused on Eastwood, westerns, high brow, low brow, etc. and not get too personal here.
Maybe you can find some articles that support your viewpoint. For example, Wendy, you keep saying that "general audiences consider westerns low brow." Have you read this somewhere and, if so, can you share it with us?
Actually, if you want to continue this discussion, let me know because we should probably start this debate as a different topic than here in Ravenwind's poll about what Eastwood should do next in his career.
-
Are you pregnant or something?
That's a curiously personal remark. As a matter of fact I am.
So? >:(
-
I'm siding with daisy here
-
The personal remarks need to halt!!
They have nothing to do with any Eastwood topic and can be offensive when you know they are offensive and even when you don't.
-
Daisy told me to go f@#k myself, and I am out of line because I correctly noticed that she was incredibly moody and guessed she was carrying child? You people are insane.
That was my point, Windy! It has been a long long time since Westerns were dismissed by critics as low brow.
Go :P yourself, by the way. >:(
-
EVERYONE who made a personal remark was out of line!!!
Daisy notified me that she is voluntarily bowing out of this ugly scene.
Wendy, I think you should do the same until you can decide to post without any personal remarks.
-
Interesting that the same person who said:
That's quite sexist.
In response to this post by Hemlock:
What`s wrong with Sonja Braga`s part in The Rookie?I think it`s only good thing in that movie. Anyway I´m glad Eastwood used De Jesus instead of Braga.I saw her in a couple of Sex And The City episodes and first could not recognize her.Marvellous actress but she has changed a lot since Rookie.
And who said of The Gauntlet:
It was pretty nasty towards women, as was HPD.
Is now saying to one of our female members:
Are you pregnant or something?
And...
...and I am out of line because I correctly noticed that she was incredibly moody and guessed she was carrying child?
You're about as out of line as can be Lucas Stensland, Shabby Chic, Wendy, whatever your name is this week. You've been taking cheap shots at members since the day you came to the board. If you're going to pick fights with members here, at least have the decency to stick around and face the music when they come back at you. If you decide to stick around this time, stick with one name for now on so we don't have to keep up the charade of pretending to not know who you are.
I can't recall anyone saying anything as "pretty nasty towards women" as you have with your "pregnant" remarks in this thread. I give Daisy credit for being so restrained, this warning is not aimed at her:
From the site FAQ:

Since this topic has swerved completely from the point of the thread, I'm locking it and have started a new poll with a few extra options that may make it easier for more members to vote. See this thread if you'd like to vote:
