Title: Films You Would Like To See On Movie Nights
Post by: The Schofield Kid on March 09, 2010, 10:46:11 PM
Instead of drawing out the process of nominating a film, voting for a film and then choosing a day. From April 2010, we're just going to post a poll with three films and find a date which suits most people.

This thread is for everyone to post a list 8-10 films you'd like to see this year, during our movie nights. Each month, three will be chosen to vote on. The films can be one's that we've already seen on movie nights or even Clint only directed films. I don't think we've ever had one of those movie nights, so that would be interesting sometime.

As of 10/30/2011. This is the Master list.

Play Misty For Me (1)

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1)

Letters from Iwo Jima (1)

Who choses the three for each month?

So the top 8 to 10 out of the total list everyone choses or the total list?

No worries.

The two films that missed out are on the poll followed by another film as we go down the list by most popular.

White Hunter Black Heart

Absolute Power

The Rookie

Gran Torino

Where Eagles Dare

The Eiger Sanction

A Perfect World

Bronco Billy.

I have made my list up from movies that I don't think we have watched on movie nights. (did check with the list SK put up)  There are movies I would like to see again but I think we should look at ones that we have not seen as a movie night group first.  We may discover a movie we really like that perhaps has only been viewed once.  Sometimes watching with the CEWB folk you can see more into a movie than just watching it on your own.   Just my opinion!

Instead of posting this list each month or when someone else posts their list of favorites, I've now put the master list into the very first post of this thread and will edit that post each month.

Actually, if more members post their favorites and a film has more votes than the two that missed out in the poll, that film will jump ahead.

This seems to be going well.

I was thinking since we've been doing it for 4 months now, does anyone think we should revise our lists and replace the films that we've seen in the last four months or leave the lists as they are?

It would mean the top three films in the first post at the moment, may change.

In Jan it would be one year on from when we watched GBU. I think it would be great if we saw AFOD in Jan, since we saw FAFDM in August. Thoughts?

If all goes to plan and we do have a movie night in December. The poll in January will have Fistful Of Dollars on it and I could be swayed to vote that way. :)

We are down to the final three films on our Master list. I was thinking that after our November Movie night, we take a break in December and start again in January when I'll ask everyone to post 8-10 of their favorite Eastwood films they'd like to see on our monthly movie night.

Sound OK?

I missed Sudden Impact when I was doing my list. I updated it and removed Letters From Iwo Jima since that will be our January movie night after we postponed it last month.

I know I'm being a bit eager but after the April'13 movie night we should schedule another one to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the 3 films Clint made in'73 by selecting one to watch together.

High Plains Drifter
Magnum Force
Breezy

Why don't I just add those three to the poll for April 28, '13? I'll set it up a bit later tonight. I was going to add High Plains Drifter anyway, just because I missed it the last time we had it for a Movie Night.

I think that is a great idea JSE. All three of the above movies appeal to me. Hope we can get to see them.

That's good,  KC has added them now to the movie poll but if Every Which Way is still the one we end up watching we could always do it again for the next movie night. I have a slight confession to make - I've never seen Breezy! It's the only Clint film that has passed me by.
