In which western does Clint remove a bullet from his companion after disinfecting his knife with whisky, a candle flame, and spitting on it?

Sorry, but that doesn't happen in any Clint Eastwood Western. You must be thinking of some other actor.

Does this scene sound familiar to anyone?

The only thing remotely similar to the description would be the arrow removal scene from "Two Mules For Sister Sara"

Yes, I thought of that scene too! ;D

But it's an arrow, not a bullet ... and Clint is the removee, not the remover.

There's a scene with a candle flame and some doctoring in Unforgiven, but again, it's not a bullet ... it's gashes from a bar fight, and again it's Clint who is the patient, while his companion, Morgan Freeman, is doing the doctoring, stitching up Clint's battered face.

How about "The Outlaw Josey Wales?"  Toward the beginning of the movie, Josey's young companion is shot in the back by Bill McKinney's character as he rides away.  Flash forward to the scene where he is laying on the ground as Josey makes him more comfortable (the scene where they both kill a couple of bounty hunters).

I haven't seen the movie for a while, so maybe I'm wrong.  But it could be that Josey cut the bullet out of the kid prior to that scene.

So, while he would not have removed a bullet from anyone on screen, could this be what the original poster is referring to?

I don't know, it sounds like a pretty vivid scene, not one you'd imagine happening off camera. I feel certain this is a scene in some Western ... just not an Eastwood Western.

The only other thing I can think of, if this really is related to Clint, is if it could actually be from an episode of Rawhide instead of a motion picture?

I have viewed all the C E westerns, pretty much, and within the limitations of my frail old memory this does not ring a bell.

This seems to vaguely remind me of a scene in True Grit (redux) wherein Rooster tends to Ranger after Rooster has missed his shot and wounded Ranger.

Since I am often overwhelmed by curiosity, but even more powerfully lambasted by my monumentally all-consuming laziness, I suggest that the queryist obtain and inspect True Grit (redux) and satisfy their curiosity. And then mayhap report back on here to satisfy my own aroused curiosity.
