I remember watching an award show for Clint where on e of the fellow actors were saying how Clint liked to sit in the back of his pick up with his dog and fish all day.  Sorry can't reember the show but still checking on it.

No, it can be smoked as a cigarette.  I believe it's usually mixed with tobacco.  Of course, I'm not fluent on all the finer points of opium smoking.  I know Oscar Wilde was known to smoke opium laced cigarettes. 

Yeah it can be smoked as a cigarette or through a pipe.  The tobacco or any other smoking matter is laced with opium for a better effect.  I knew a guy that did that back in high school.  I also see it on the job once in awhile.

Well i thought that she was going to be OK and Clint teaching again or something like that or that he was going to see his daughter but i guess not.

I don't think thats Clint's style have that kind of ending.  I'm sure everyone would of liked it but this ending seems more to true life in a way.

I liked the ending.  I like any movie does makes you think minutes, days, months  and even years after you see it.  Clint seems to go with those type of movies that makes you think and messes with your emotion.  Keep those movies coming.  But also keep the action ones coming also, it's good to hit all aspects for the viewers.

I also agree Fletcher was a rebel.  He made an agreement with the union for his own benefit but had no idea that the others were going to be gunned down.  Watch when Fletcher is in the union tent before the others are shot and also when Fletcher sees the "red legs" are involved.

I was always under the impression that he was smoking opium -- but I could be wrong.  And I agree that I thought he did it to bury the pain and also that he was addicted to it. 

I have to agree that it was most likely opium...that was the drug choice in those years and the most common.  I think he smoked to remember a certain event all the time.  The drug brought his thought of the event back which he wanted....in my opinion.

Any Clint role could be looked at as either a hero type or villain type.  It depends how the person watching it views it in their mind.  Look at his role as Frank Morris in Escape from Alcatraz, he is a convict but you want to see him make it out.  Hero or villain???  Who knows but it's a great actor like Clint that makes you think that through his acting.

I actually work in a police dept. with inspector rank.  In my dept, this is above captain and right below asst chief and chief status.  Years ago in some police dept's, inspector rank was on the a higher grade of a detective status.  This has changed over the years and used differently with other police depts.

I loved the Dirty Harry movies.......it's a gamble and Clint likes too take risky chances....I read somewhere in an interview with Clint that he said he shouldn't play a role not of his age.....then don't......play the role his age.  It's worth a shot....you only live once and don't want any "what ifs"  later on.

If Mann's Chinese theatre can't realize that Clint should have a star then the hell with them.....I'll make my own for him on my own pavement.  A fan will always respect his (clints) art in acting, movie making, and music.   The man is a icon among his peers and fans.  If the people at Mann's who decide it don't realize that....they could stick it.
