I didn't think Gran Torino was "all that great" but it was OK.  This whining kid seems like a real loser.

I saw a Cimino interview a little while back where he scoffed at the suggestion of gay overtones in The Deer Hunter - I am pretty sure that would be his response to this film too.

Philo Beddoe Jr, nice to hear from you! :)

Hi KC :-)  Happy 2014!

Guys, you may already be aware of this so pls ignore if so....

The upcoming T&L Blu ray is a limited edition with only 3000 copies, and MIGHT sell out real quick, so my advice is put up your pre-order as soon as it goes on sale.

Otherwise there is a UK release coming out (but may be region locked).

Michael Cimino has announced a US release of Thunderbolt and Lightfoot is coming soon on Blu-ray.

it's annoying and unnecessary, and it looks amateur and turns visitors away

but whatever...

yes the lines are too long and it is hard on the eyes, i could resize my browser I guess but I think most web forums these days are centered because of the headache factor

Is your monitor 16x9 or 4x3?

This forum fills the screen from left to right on my monitor.  The Blu ray forum is in the center with space on the sides.
Not sure what you mean PBJ.  ???

My 21 inch wide screen monitor is fine on this site or any I look at on the web. Even that one you linked.

Firefox and Any Which Way You Can coming to Blu-ray on June 4th.

It is hard on the eyes on wide screen monitors.

Use this forum as an example:

I think they are meant to be "sort of sequels/prequels" but also stand alone films, meaning you can make the connection if you want, or view them as different characters if you want.  I suspect this was Leone's intent.

Yes they say a new transfer.  I hope so!  Just hope we don't get a second rate transfer like we did for the Dollars BD's.

Eastwood News / Outlaw Josey Wales coming out on Blu-ray!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coming out on June 4, 2011 WOOO HOOOOO!!!!

I'm actually really hanging out for The Eiger Sanction on Blu ray!

GBU is considered a good improvement from the DVD but still controversial in terms of PQ standards for a Blu ray.  Has had heavy DNR applied to it which reduces image clarity.

A fistful of Dollars has been excessively cropped, but apparently the recent US special edition DVD's had this same over-cropping also.

I hadn't heard about this, though I don't have a Blu ray player anyhow. I know several years back when the Back to the Future DVDs came out and they had an issue with the framing, they had it set up where you could mail the discs in to receive the correct versions. I would hope they would do the same thing for the Man With No Name films.

Sad to hear they messed up the wide screen framing on the Blu ray release of the Man with no name films.  I have not bought due to this.  Might pick them up when they hit bargain prices tho.

JB Hi Fi has a 2 for 20 dollar deal atm and you can pick up where eagles dare + absolute power for 20.00.

Or the single titles for 12.98.

WED and Kelly's Heroes under $16 on Blu ray at JB HI FI

I don't think this will get a special edition for QUITE A WHILE if ever.  That sucks about the full screen though.  Might be time to buy a blu ray player KC.

Iconfan was writing last April, when Gran Torino was originally released on both DVD and BluRay. His point is valid: The "features" on the DVD are worthless; the BluRay includes only one additional feature, "The Eastwood Way: Exploring the actor/director's filmmaking process up close," which doesn't sound very exciting. It's not unreasonable to expect that Warners will come out with a "special edition" of this movie before long, and everyone who bought the original release will have to pony up again.

As for me, I waited ... and waited ... until finally I saw it in my local Best Buy for around fourteen bucks (DVD, not BluRay) and so I bought it just to have a copy of the movie at last.

Almost worse, in my mind, is that Warners persists in selling the disc, in addition to the original format, in a butchered "full-screen" edition. Caveat emptor!
