Off-Topic Discussion / Re: THE ENDLESS, POINTLESS thread
« on: January 02, 2011, 06:21:43 PM »
Hey all,

I'm still a big Clint fan and still sometimes lurk however, unfortunately, I don't really have the time anymore to be an active member.

I'm still sitting at the same desk, by the way! Just looking a little bit older.

The most interesting thing I've done this is year is go to the USA to see the band Rush on their "Time Machine Tour"; I've got my tickets booked for a few gigs on the European leg this year.

Hope everyone is well, I'll try to make an effort to pop by more often.

Thanks for the birthday wishes,

Philo, is it busy in the cinema? Will I need to order tickets or will I be okay buying them on the door?

I'm going to try and see Play Misty For Me on Wednesday 6th. I work by Oval Station and finish at six. I should be able to make it. Will anyone else be there?

I think I'll watch the re-runs of the Dollars films as well and I'll definately go and see The Good, The Bad and the Ugly at some point.

I'm going to work out which ones I can make it to and post them up here. So, if anyone wants to join me, feel free.

I did notice that someone walked out as it was just as Clint was blowing away the bank robbers and going into the 'Did I fire six shots or only five' rountine to Albert Popwell!

Yep, that was me.

Sorry to hear about the bad sound experience at Romford, the Vue in Thurrock didn't have a problem and was totally in-sync with the picture.

I second that, I didn't notice any issue with the sound at all.

My wife and I went to see the showing at Thurrock too so at least you know there were two other young 'uns amongst those 10 people!  It was fantastic to finally see Clint's best Dirty Harry film on the big screen, it definately adds a lot to the experience and the picture quality and sound were if only a local cinema could do a Clint season I'd be in heaven!

I honestly thought there would be more people in there. You probably noticed me walk out about ten minutes in to give my friend his ticket. It would be great for them to do a Clint season, I would be promptly clearing my schedule of anything.

The film itself I thought looked and sounded fantastic. It was a great experience.

Flicking between "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis and "Moving Pictures" by Rush.

Just come back as well from the Thurrock Vue. It was fantastic, well worth £5. There was only about ten people in the cinema. I was the youngest by about twenty five years.

I'd love to see it again in the cinema. I'm very tempted to watch 'Dial M For Murder' next Monday.

Movie Night / Re: Movie Night, October '07? Get out the votes!

Hey everyone.
I've been really busy lately but hopefully I'll have some time to make some posts on the board. I'd love to join in on a movie night again so I'll keep an eye on the board to see when the next one is. It'll be handy if someone could e-mail when a date is agreed for the next one just incase I've not had a chance to look at the board.

How about the Iron Maiden song Where Eagles Dare from their Piece of Mind album?

On the Iron Maiden live album "A Real Live Dead One", Bruce Dickinson announces "Whatever the problem is, Clint Eastwood is gunna' fix it " before they play the song "Where Eagles Dare".

I have every Led Zeppelin song as well on my PC (I think). I'd play anyway because Led Zeppelin kick arse. One of the reason I took up playing the bass.

Not really read much of his stuff but Apt Pupil blew me away.

Saying that, I liked all of Different Seasons but that one stuck out for me. Then The Breathing Method, then The Body and lastly I enjoyed Shawshank the least. This was probably due to the fact of how many times I've seen the film.

Haven't been around for a while, but I'm going to try and make this one. 'In The Line of Fire' is one of my favourite Clint  films!

I think member, mesterchief, is extremely happy that Green Day won:

I hate Green Day to the point where I'd lop my ears off to not listen to them. By the way, I like the way you've spelt my name Dan.

Peter Sellers with Alien Hand Syndrome in "Dr. Strangelove."

I like the bank shoot out in Heat ( 1995 ) as they come out of the bank onto the side walk it's about 3 or 4 minutes of gunfire that doesn't let up.Great stuff. O0

That's the first one that came to my mind. Great scene.

If they hosted a concert [Pink Floyd] I'd get tickets as soon as I hear about it.

Pink Floyd were [email protected]#king amazing. Excuse the language, but that's how good I thought they were. I was dancing with a friend of mine during "Comfortably Numb" (don't worry, it was a girl).

Dire Straits: Fade to Black

The song after " Think About You" was "Sultans of Swing"...strange. Now, it's "Fear of the Dark" by Iron Maiden.
