« on: January 18, 2023, 12:09:44 PM »
I didn't see any mention of this on the forum (apologize in advance if it has) so thought I would post it... had not heard anything about this animal documentary that Eastwood is in.

General Discussion / Watched Lafayette Escadrille
« on: July 11, 2022, 08:00:46 PM »
Finally saw Lafayette Escadrille on TCM today and there was one neat tidbit that I never knew about this movie.  The pitcher throwing to Clint in the baseball game was no other than Billy Jack himself... Tom Laughlin.  Pretty sure I never knew this.

Clint Eastwood Westerns / The Outlaw Josey Wales on the big screen
« on: November 09, 2021, 09:49:40 AM »
Saw Josey Wales last night at my local Alamo Drafthouse theater in Virginia... released to the theaters as part of the 45th anniversary of the film.  I've seen this movie countless times over the years (including on opening day 45 years ago) but I never get tired of seeing it and watching it again on the big screen was just marvelous.  Perfect storytelling and great cinematography plus one of Clint's best roles.  Can't say much more that hasn't already been said on this board but if anybody gets to see this in a theater near them, make sure to stay after the credits as there is a 15-20 minute great documentary on not just about making Josey Wales but discussion on making all his westerns... lots of interviews including Costner and Scorcese.

Clint Eastwood Westerns / Fistfull of Dollars on the big screen
« on: November 08, 2018, 06:21:36 PM »
My local Alamo Drafthouse theater is showing Fistfull of Dollars next week!  One of those movies  that  had  such a hugh impact on me has a kid.  Haven' seen this on the big screen since I first saw it when it came out back in the 1960's....  Even though I've seen this countless times on TV and disc, can't wait to see it again on the big screen.

On the Kevin Costner's new show Yellowstone last night, the episode opened up with Claudia's Theme from Unforgiven being played.  I almost fell off my sofa when the music started playing.

Last week, the local Alamo Drafthouse movie theatre in Virginia showed a Blu-Ray digital presentation of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.  The theater was packed if not sold out. Plus, they were offering all you can eat spagetti during the movie.  Watching the great digital picture with all that great music blasting out of the speakers made it a very memorable show.   I've suggested that they do the same later with Fistfull of Dollars or Outlaw Josey Wales.

Eastwood News / Million Dollar Baby article in Washington Post
« on: September 21, 2004, 05:51:48 PM »
In today's Washington Post (Tuesday, Sept 21) Style section, there is a big article about actors playing athletes in movies. However, the first third of the article is about Million Dollar Baby and stuff about Clint and Hillary Swank.

Some highlights in the article (I don't have a link as I read this in hard copy):

1. Eastwood plays a disillusioned trainer who finds new heart teaching a woman to become a professional boxer

2. Eastwood says he doesn't believe moviegoers will accept body doubles, trick edits, or computer-generated special effects in a realistic emotional drama.

3. Will reach theatres later this year or early next.

4. Swank trained for three months before filming - 2 1/2 hours a day in boxing clasees with an additional 90 minutes lifting heavy weights.

Eastwood News / Clint on A&E Biography
« on: October 05, 2003, 04:47:55 PM »
In addition to Clint being on Inside the Actors Studio tonight, A&E Biography also has a 2hour show on Clint at the same time (8pm)  They will also be interviewing some of the actors from Mystic River as well.  From my program guide, A&E is replaying the entire show twice afterwards back-to-back.
