General Discussion / The Gauntlet - Locke or Streisand?
« on: March 28, 2014, 04:38:40 AM »
I have always loved "The Gauntlet" and not ashamed to admit it either.  I have never been a member of the Sondra Locke fan club and I have always felt that Barbera Streisand would have been a far better choice.  I know she was in the running for the part but lost out to Locke.

Who would you choose?

Collectors' Corner / Pale Rider Teaching Kit
« on: August 23, 2013, 12:43:24 AM »
For those of you who are interested,

here is the Pale Rider teaching kit issued to schools prior to the films release.

Part of the pack contains the discussed US 1 Sheet with Stockburns men on the brim of the Preachers hat.  This version of the poster was only available through the education pack and was not intended for theatrical display.

These packs complete with posters are very scarce and I have only came across a couple of them.

It is interesting to read that the students were recommended to watch Pale Rider which was R rated.

Here are images of the Teaching Kit, I have added a watermark to the images to protect them from being used elsewhere.

These are the activity sheets -

And, of course, the 1 Sheet -

Off-Topic Discussion / Favourite Movie Themes of ALL Time
« on: December 31, 2012, 09:47:09 AM »
I really mainly only listen to film soundtracks/scores.  I`m not much of a song kinda guy.

I was trying to find out what my all time favourite themes could be.

It is very, very difficult, there are so many fantastic themes out there.

I admire many great composers -

John Williams
Thomas Newman
Hans Zimmer
James Newton Howard
John Debney
Klaus Badelt
Rachel Portman
John Powell

+ many more

With the exception of Eastwood film themes (my favourite would be the theme from Magnum Force)

I am curious to know what other members favourite themes would be.

Here is a small list of my all time favourite themes -

Taking of Pelham 123 - David Shore

Enter The Dragon - Lalo Schifrin

Jurrasic Park - John Williams

Forrest Gump - Alan Silvestri

Pirates Of The Caribbean - Klaus Badelt

Enemy Of The State - Trevor Rabin and Harry Gregson Williams

The Rock - Hans Zimmer

Help please on what this is.

Obviously French.

4 pages in total.

I don't think its a synopsis or a "dossier de presse"  (but could be wrong on both counts)

Questions & Answers / The Making of The Gauntlet
« on: July 18, 2012, 01:21:55 AM »
Do any members here have the short video of the making of The Gauntlet?

I know one exists, I watched it many years ago.

Pretty sure it was available on video along with other "makings of's" .  If I recall, the video ran for about 60 minutes total.  The Gauntlet segment ran for about 10 minutes.

Can anyone even post a link to it here?

General Discussion / Eastwood Cinema Hoardings
« on: March 23, 2012, 07:00:37 AM »
I really love to see vintage images of cinemas with Eastwood films showing.

Cinema Retro do a bit on this in every issue, not Eastwood related though.

Do any members have any that they can share here.  The older the better.

I will start it off with an image from Staines ABC (UK) in 1970 showing Kellys Heroes.

Here is a close up of the unique poster that was used.  I would love to get my grubby little hand on that one   :)

Collectors' Corner / Clint Eastwood personal letter 1954
« on: October 26, 2011, 07:21:11 AM »
I came across this while browsing Heritage Auctions Site.

Clints personal letter to Billy Wilder and Arthur Lupins letter to Billy Wilder

What a fantastic piece of memorabilia to have.  Though not for sale now, the buyer paid a hefty price for it at the time.

Collectors' Corner / Japanese Photo Books
« on: August 20, 2011, 07:13:44 AM »
I came across these books recently and am interested to know if they are as good as the two photobooks that were published in the seventies (I am sure you will know the ones I mean).

If anybody has got any of the following books, could you please tell me what they are like?  How many pages, book size, quality of images etc.  And if you are feeling generous, how about posting a few images?  ;)

Thank in advance.

General Discussion / Clint related Holiday Snaps
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:33:46 AM »
I was having a bit of a clear out yesterday and came across some old photos of when I first visited California.  What great memories.  :)

I had the idea that if any other members could post their own personal photos of Clint related sites and locations they have visited over the years and share them with everybody here.

What do you guys reckon???  Good idea or Crap idea??

Here are a few of the ones I found yesterday, that need no explanations!! -

Collectors' Corner / The Gauntlet Thailand Poster
« on: June 02, 2011, 07:20:07 AM »
On eBay just now.  And perhaps, just a little too expensive.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220792853862&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I have`nt seen this one before.

As usual, as with most Thai posters, this poster is a little busy.  Lets go nuts with the cut and paste again!!!

I do like it though.

The sellers says the poster is from Dirty Harry.  It is really from The Beguiled.

Eastwood News / Clint in Classic Bike magazine
« on: March 04, 2011, 08:16:39 AM »
Imagine my surprise when looking through my new issue (March 2011) of Classic Bike Guide, when I came across a great shot of Clint at the Norton factory in England.

Taken in 1968 when he was here filming Where Eagles Dare.  He approached the receptionist at Norton and asked if he could have a look around the factory as he drove at Norton back home.

The receptionist then called the managing director of the plant and he replied "Clint who??"

Here is a closer look -
