Eastwood News / Bill Gold RIP
« on: May 20, 2018, 11:45:12 PM »
So sad to lose Bill.

I corresponded with him and his daughter on a number of occasions. A huge influence on how the world saw Clint.

General Discussion / Rango
« on: October 05, 2011, 04:30:05 AM »
I don't believe this hasn't been mentioned already and sincere apologies if it has

I just watched Rango http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1192628/ and was delighted with the "Spirit of the West" character at the end. Clearly the man with no name and even referred to as such, I was very impressed with Timothy Olyphant's Clint impression.

Eastwood News / Clint tours the WB lot
« on: October 15, 2010, 12:29:40 AM »
Couldn't see this posted elsewhere.

As many of you know, I collect movie used props and costumes with Clint being a focus.

For me at least, its one of the best articles I've ever read.

From USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/news/2010-10-13-eastwood13_CV_N.htm)

A snipet ..

Quote
The guy driving a golf cart around the Warner Bros. studio points to a group of tourists crowding around a garage doorway.

"This is where they keep all the cars," he says, slowing down. "The car from Gran Torino is in there."He stops just behind the group. All of them have their backs to him, nudging forward to see the movie cars.

If any had turned around, they'd have seen Clint Eastwood pointing at them. He shrugs, a thin smile on his face as he drives off.

The iconic actor/director's latest film is Hereafter, opening Friday in limited release and Oct. 22 nationwide, a drama about people haunted by encounters with what may be the afterlife.

But the studio backlot is where Eastwood, 80, sees ghosts now. In a cavernous storage room, there are racks of costumes two stories high, and in the back closet of his office, movie history can be seen in a dirty black hat, a pair of boxing gloves and a poncho.

Its been mentioned here before but it looks like the lavish book promised showing Bill Gold's association with Clint is finally on its way

Here is part of an email I received recently

I'm writing to you because you have previously written to Bill expressing interest in his work. I'd like to inform you of his upcoming book, Bill Gold: PosterWorks due to be released in November 2010. The book reflects on Bill's 63 year career of designing movie posters. It's 450 pages of beautiful photos of finished posters, roughs and comps that have never been seen before. The Foreword is by Clint Eastwood. The book is published by Reel Art Press and written by Sir Christopher Frayling. The publisher has created a website to peruse the book and order if you desire. It should be up and running in about a month, but feel free to sign up now and they will notify you when it's officially launched.http://www.reelartpress.com

I know this interests me, so I thought others here would like to know too.

Collectors' Corner / Prop Springbok flag from Invictus
« on: June 28, 2010, 02:31:08 AM »

This is a shameless plug for my own business.

This is one of the flags used in the crowd scenes of the movie, we have quite a number of them. It has come from the prop rental comapny involved with the production.

http://www.propstore.com/product-Small-Springbok-Flag.htm

Rest assured I have already nabbed one for myself for my ongoing Invictus collection.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Collectors' Corner / Priceless Clint Autograph
« on: June 01, 2010, 01:45:37 AM »
I thought I should finally post an image of my favourite Clint collectable.

I have bored many of you with this picture already, me and the missus on set in Cape Town, but while I was on the set of "Hereafter" back in February, Clint signed it.

For me, this is the ultimate item in my collection. Because of the image (it would obviously be a negative for most other collectors) this might be worth $100-150. To me its priceless.

Does anyone out there recognize this? It was worn by Clint in a movie, just not sure which movie ..

I'll do some checking myself but thought I should post it here to see if I could get some help.

I would assume this might have been worn by Clint in "Honkytonk Man", "Bronco Billy" or "Perfect World"?

Collectors' Corner / My Collection
« on: October 01, 2007, 12:18:41 AM »
Well I finally completed my home cinema room (well almost).

I thought I'd share some pictures as much of my Eastwood collection is on display. I have a costume still with my framers and when thats finished I'll post that too.

My collection is very much focused on genuine production used items worn or used by the great man himself. Below you will see images of his live firing Colt Walker from OJW and the rubber stunt shotgun from Unforgiven. I also have the original painting that went to make the one sheet for HPD.

As mentioned on another thread I’m lucky enough to work for www.propstore.com (sorry shameless plug) and get to see and handle many great and historic items. The Eastwood pieces usually find their way into my collection.

Eastwood News / California Museum of History.
« on: December 14, 2006, 04:36:43 AM »
I understand that there is a new Clint Eastwood exhibit in the California Museum of History's "Hall of Fame" in Sacramento.

I believe it features The Poncho, his complete Unforgiven costume and his Oscars as well as other incredible artifacts.

Can anyone get in there to get some snaps?

*apologies if this has already been posted if so please delete*
