It's great to see this tradition continuing. Thanks, SK!  8)

Yeah, I also took the scene where the cartel boss was killed to drastically up the danger to Earl and the possibility that he could easily be killed if they wanted him dead.    Also, I thought the way this scene was filmed was very cool... to make it look like Garcia had actually shot his rifle... and then fall over.

Is this your first time watching a movie? This is done often.

This one was a dud for me. Cooper and Fishburne were on auto-pilot and all their scenes really felt like they were shot in a day in the same room. And by Mule Run #93, I think we get it. He's driving drugs to places. We don't need to see all the runs. This movie just felt awkward as I never felt any tension or sympathy for the characters. I think Pete Davidson and John Mulaney pretty much summed up my thoughts on the movie on Saturday Night Live a few weeks back.

However, I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but is his character a possible metaphor for Clint's career? Always focused on his work and let his marriages and kids go to the side. Just spit balling here and maybe I read too much into it.

2.5/5

Oh my God, KC.... That'd be a trip to the hospital for alcohol poisoning. Maybe a drink for every three selfie photos. And a shot for every time the main guy questions if they should goto Paris (the attempt at building tension in the movie).

Double shot for when the main guy all of a sudden just lights up a cigarette even though he never mentions anything about smoking during the course of the movie nor do we ever see him smoking up until that point.

KC, I recently watched The Rookie and got some enjoyment out of it. So, yes, I'd rather do a double bill of The Rookie and Paint Your Wagon for 24 hours straight then watch this one again.

Unless... I can make a drinking game out of 1517 2 Frenchland.

Few thoughts:

I've had morning after drinking movements better then this movie.

The acting was painful to watch.

Did Tommy Wiseau direct this?

No tension at all during the movie and these guys lived extremely boring lives apparently.

I was waiting for the Benny Hill theme during all the Italy selfie stick garbage.

There we no good in this thing. Not at all. This is easily Clint's worst movie that he's ever made.

Raewyn,

Much like everyone here I have no words. I never do when news like this comes my way. It's truly awful. I can only wish for you that you spend all the time that you have with loved ones and cherish every moment. I know they will.

Thank you for being a member here all these years, all the posts and thoughts that you have given and for letting us know what is happening.

All that I ask is that you tell your friends and family that you love them. Speaking from experience this will be the greatest thing that you can do for them at a time like this.

Godspeed.

Amy Adams was fantastic in Nocturnal Animals and Arrival.

I'm pretty confident in saying that Denzel has locked up his third Oscar. He took the SAG award tonight and as much as Casey Affleck was in the lead, I bet Denzel just shot out front.

I haven't seen most of the contenders but I have seen La La Land. I'm pretty confident in saying that I think Emma Stone will get her Oscar. I love me some baby goose as well but I'm not sure if they'll give him one. Though he does have The Nice Guys going for him as well since he was good in that.

Pretty solid set list, SK. A lot of ones he plays regularly but also there's a few in there that are either rarities or they're ones that he scatters throughout the tour.

Those are some fantastic shots, Matt! Nicely done.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: C.G.I Peter Cushing
« on: December 25, 2016, 05:07:42 PM »
The CGI Cushing was very well done. There's another CGI actor in Rogue One as well.

I remember the first time it being done in full was in Tron: Legacy. They had a young CGI Jeff Bridges for a big chunk of the film. You could tell that was CG but it still looked very good.

The movement of CG Cushing was a give away and the mouth movements too. But hey, it's only going to get better.

Now all actors and actresses can remain forever young in their movies.

A friend of mine (who post effects work) firnly believes that they did something to Brad Pitt for Allied. He said Pitt looked too perfect.

And Toronto FC just became the first Canadian MLS team to head to the MLS Cup finals. They'll host on December 10. Could we get a nice snowy finale to the MLS season?

Not so much drought related but...

Jimmie Johnson won his record tying 7th NASCAR Sprint Cup championship this year. That tired him for the overall record with Richard Pretty and Dale Earnhardt. No one has ever won eight.

Daniel Suárez became the first foreign-born driver to win a NASCAR national series championship when he won the Xfinity Series championship.

And in MLS the Toronto FC and Montreal Impact are the first Canadian teams to make it to the conference finals. One will advance to the finals as they play each other on Wednesday to see who advances.

I fell asleep before the final out  :( . Then I woke up as they were celebrating. Congrats to the Chicago Cubs!

And SK had a good question... I wonder what some of the longest droughts are? I know Cleveland takes the MLB mantle now and the Toronto Maple Leafs hold the NHL Stanley Cup mantle at around 50 years or so, I believe.

One of the commentators for the Canadian sports channel broadcast is so over the top any time something happens. It's fun to listen to him.
