groucho070, where did you hear that Eastwood was offered the starring role in Escape from New York? I've never heard that, though I HAVE heard that Kurt Russell did a conscious Eastwood imitation as "Snake Plissen." (I think someone even posted here once that it's mentioned on the DVD's commentary track.)

At any rate, it's indeed a part one could picture Eastwood doing.

Sorry for getting back late. I read it somewhere and honestly I can't remember where. And you are right, Kurt did consciously imitate Eastwood. It was really flattering.

Anyway, I think it was nice for Jackman to tell this tale. He has enough humility like THE man himself.

Very Eastwood.

I am not familiar with the remark, "You're holding up the line".

Not an American, you see. What does that mean.

How come no one talks about the films that was originally offered to Eastwood and he turned it down?

I heard one: Snake Plisskin in Escape From New York. It was paycheque issue. Either that, or at that time he was just not interested in doing other's movies.

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

This scene always has me laughing my ass off. I took the quote from from The Enforcer:

[Callaghan learns he is being transferred to Personnel]

Harry Callahan: Personnel? That's for @#!holes!

Capt McKay: I was in Personnel for ten years.

Harry Callahan: Yeah

Hello. I am from Malaysia. Been a lifelong Eastwood fan, thanks to my dad who got me watching the westerns when I was a kid. Hope to contribute to this forum. Oh boy, I do...
