Questions & Answers / Re: Photos of bearded Clint.
« on: July 09, 2008, 05:41:49 PM »
Yes I do it is from the larger picture SK posted I originally copied from the book Clint by Christian Authier ( page 99 )
just for AB to frame.    I have it framed in my den.   He is arriving at Heathrow Airport in the UK in 1985.

I guess I should not have copied it but it was only for personal use and I did not post it on here so of course there was no credit given.     AB has it in her collection of Clint with a beard pictures. Like me she loves him not clean shaven.  Sorry if I did the wrong thing mods.   :-[

Thanks Lin.  I thought it was probably from around the Pale Rider era.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: What was the last western you watched?
« on: June 27, 2008, 06:10:09 PM »

I actually saw it on (of all places) The History Channel.

I watched it then too & it was the first time I've seen it.  I loved it, I think it might be my favorite Western now...or at least equal to HPD, anyway.

Thanks AB!  :)

Do you know when that black & white one in the second row is from?

Anybody listened to the commentary yet?  How is it?

General Discussion / Re: Clint Eastwood videos

This isn't a Clint video, but this seems like the place to put this.  Here's an interview I found with Dina.  It's about some skin care product & she's not in it until about four minutes in.  She mentions Clint once.

I think I've only seen one other interview with her, at the Oscars a long time ago.

Eastwood News / Re: Gran Torino: Production Information & News.

Here's an article in Melbournes local paper the Herald Sun

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23739750-5006023,00.html

"No. That rumour's incorrect." Eastwood was speaking at a news conference at the Cannes film festival, where his latest movie starring Angelina Jolie is in the main competition.

Jolie, sitting alongside him joked: "I am", to which Eastwood replied:

"Dirty Harriet. The Tomb Raider will play it. I have no intention. There are certain things you have to be realistic about. Dirty Harry would not be on a police department at my age so we'll move on from that."

Start a new series  called Dirty Harriet with Angelina Jolie and Clint directing. Now there's an idea. ^-^

I saw this on YouTube.

Yeah, that'd be an idea!  :D

My favorite Eastwood directorial highlight is The Bridges of Madison County.  The way it was directed was just straight story-telling, no effects or anything like that to play it up.  I think that's the best way for a character study to be done, to just let the audience get to know the characters.  The acting was outstanding, very real.  Clint is known for shooting films without a lot of takes, and I can see how that helps make everything seem more natural.  It's the realest seeming movie I've seen.  And the most touching/tear-jerking, romantic, etc.  That's why it's my favorite movie.  :)

Another of my favorite directorial highlights of Clint's is High Plains Drifter.  While I like Westerns, I think it was better than most because it had a lot more going for it with all the genre mixing -  funny, supernatural at times.  It has a neat ambience & it's just fun to watch.

I watched it & love it.  :)

But didn't hear the commentary yet.

The interview thing is nice.

Yay!  O0

Check this out, it's the site for it.  It says there is a making of documentary.  :)

And this:

http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_item.asp?item_id=1386507

says that there's a commentary from Jack Green & Joel Cox.  Too bad it's not from Clint & Meryl, but I wasn't expecting there to be one anyway (although that would be awesome!,) but this still might be interesting.  :)

I watched an old Frasier episode on DVD the other day from season 3, '95-'96.  I didn't remember it & just noticed all the Clint references.  The title of it was "High Crane Drifter."  In it, someone tells Frasier he's "Dirty Harry meets Emily Post."  And a bit later he says, "Go ahead, Daphne, make my eggs."

 :D

That's really neat, Kid!

I hope you get to ask her more about Bridges, too.  Maybe KC's cake idea will work.  ;) ;D

I was just wondering about this.

Too bad.  I looked forward to it.

Sounds like it's still a "someday" at least...

However, newly installed WBIE senior vice president Samantha Ryan appeared to have a strong hand on the helm, proclaiming that a Dirty Harry game will be released...eventually.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: The Beatles Appreciation Thread
« on: March 14, 2008, 11:49:58 PM »
I haven't been watching AI this season, but I'd heard they were doing this, so I caught the beginning.  I saw the one who did "Got to Get You Into my Life" & I didn't even think it sounded like the song at all.  I quit watching it.  It was butchered.

I've never been much for Beatles covers.  Sometimes even when it comes to other artists I like, I don't like their covers.  I.E. Aerosmith's version of Come Together.

I do like Joe Cocker's With a Little Help from my Friends, though.  I think that's the best Beatles cover.  Otherwise, I'm a Beatles-purist.  :)

That was good Lucky Punk!

I'd pick Robert Kincaid...big surprise.  ;D

Well, imdb lists Brad Pitt as being 6', 0.5" so I guess they'd be pretty close then, if Clint's 6',1" or so now.

Eastwood News / Re: Bridges of Madison County Deluxe Edition R1 DVD

I found out a little bit more about it.

Quote
Full details are TBC, but you can expect an anamorphic widescreen presentation, a new documentary “An Old-Fashioned Love Story: The Making of The Bridges of Madison County” and the “Doe Eyes” Music Video.

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=66703

A making of thing - yes!  I was hoping there'd be something like that on there.  And a Doe Eyes video, I didn't know there was one.  I love that song.  I'm really looking forward to this, naturally.  :D
