Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Favorite Current TV Shows
« on: March 10, 2005, 04:10:06 AM »
One thing I would like to know is why on shows like the three Law and Orders and NYPD Blue and Cold Case it's the detectives that solve the crimes. But on the C.S.I. shows it's the Crime Scene Investigator's.In all the years of watching NYPD Blue I've never seen a C.S.I. helping Andy Sipowitz in the interrogation room with a suspect.

I'm surprised nobody has said Shirley MacLaine in Two Mules for Sister Sara.I thought she and Clint worked well together. It's not the best Eastwood film but I still think she's worth a mention.

Anyone heard of these new Dualdisc CD/DVD's.
One side is a CD,the other is DVD which also includes the tracks from the CD in 5.1 surround sound.I came across it on the Springsteen website. That's how his new CD will be released in April.

Anyone watch this show.I'd never heard of it until I noticed it in today's paper in the T.V. guide for next weeks episode titled Escape from Alcatraz, thinking it was the Clint movie.Apparently they recreate the escape to see if the prisoners could have survived. Is it worth watching?

The Man Who Would Be King ( 1975 )

The first hour of this was great with plenty of one liners and I usually enjoy Michael Caine and Sean Connery films, but then in the second hour it turned serious. It was still good, but a little disappointing after such a great start.

3 out of 5.

I Dream Too Much ( 1935 )

Early Henry Fonda film, his third I think and the only reason I watched this.It wasn't that bad,if you enjoy opera you may enjoy it more.He plays the husband to Lily Pons who becomes a big opera star as he gets left behind and a little jealous.

2 and a half out of 5.

The Dirty Harry Films / Re: Good job he fired six shots

From the Dirty Harry novelisation by Phillip Rock

Quote
Harry: "You been counting?"
           "Well"
"Was it five or was it six?"
"Regulations say five....hammer down on the empty...only not all of us go by the book."
"What you have to do is think about it.I mean this is a forty four magnum and it'll turn your head into hash. Now,do you think I fired five or six?And if five,do I keep a live one under the hammer?"
"It's all up to you.Are you feeling lucky,Punk?"
Robber:"I...I got to know...Mister."
Harry slowly raises the big black revolver and pressed the cold barrel to his right temple. He pulled the trigger and the hammer fell with a dull metallic click.
Harry:"Six.And you lose."

I'd also forgotten about My Dog Skip. ( who said they don't make 'em like they used to).
But the one film I had completely forgot about since I haven't seen it in about 20 years is The Sullivans a.k.a. The Fighting Sullivans. You have a heart of stone if this film doesn't make you cry.

I cried during Be Cool but I think it had more to do with the fact that I had lost two hours of my life.

Geez that opens here this week and I was thinking of going to see it.Get Shorty was good, and I like Vince Vaughn but now you've given me second thoughts. :-\

The last CD I bought was "Let it Be - Naked", which I love. Who else has both versions, and which do you prefer?

I prefer the Naked version especially The Long and Winding Road without the strings.

When is this film going to be released on DVD?

I've noticed when someone posts an article from somewhere else it comes out in blue writing against a black backdrop, just like when you click on the quote button. How is this done ? I tried to copy and paste that article about Sandra Bullock so you just saw that article and not everything else on that page from imdb but it just came out as I typed it in myself. Can someone advise this poor computer illiterate. :-[

Sandra bullock hits back.

Quote
Sandra Bullock is upset by reports she turned down the chance to star in Oscar-winning movie Million Dollar Baby - because she tried to get the film made for years. The actress calls rumors she snubbed Clint Eastwood "total rubbish," insisting instead that gossips have got their facts wrong. She explains, "We had Million Dollar Baby with someone else for a while, trying to get it made. I couldn't get it made. We tried and tried and tried. (They were like) Female boxing movies don't sell. I was like, 'This is the most incredible piece.' I then started doing Miss Congeniality 2 and they got Hilary Swank and they got Clint." But Bullock insists she's not bitter about the fact the film went on to net Swank a Best Actress Oscar - in the role she wanted to play: "When things like that happen, that's the way they're supposed to be."

Not bitter,Yeah right!

What do you guys think is the most over-rated film?? In my opinion it is a tie between Lost In Translation and any Tarantino film.

I haven't seen Lost in Translation yet.I really like Pulp Fiction and everyone kept telling me that Reservoir Dogs was much better.
It wasn't.
Also I never understood all the hype with Gadiator.I thought it was very average.
