I have the same feelings as you Gant and Sylvie. What a waste of an afternoon in the cinema. I almost walked out but waited to see if it got any didn't.  >:(

I would be disappointed to see DiCaprio win an Award for that part in a so strange Scorsese movie, and not for a previous one (Aviator, Shutter Island, Gangs of New York, Inception, Blood Diamonds for exemple, J. Edgar of course) ... But as I already told it, he was great in this part very difficult and unuasal ! So wait and see what the Academy will choose  ;)

I think I pretty much loathed Wolf of Wall Street.... its greatest sin... I found it boring, over long and I empathised with its lead characters not one jot.... Could've/should've  been at least half hour  shorter....

I really didnt like this film.. gratuitous and vacuous with few redeeming feautures, horrible to women... Very much
lesser Scorsese... I guess it reminded me a bit of Goodfellas with not an ounce of that films wit and entertainment value...
That is what I exactly felt ...
I read a lot of the critics about this movie in French press, it seems that you hate it or love it !!!

A mystery to me ... I still haven't found yet what was the aim followed by Scorsese : some scènes are  ... not  really shoking but ridiculous
Several persons came out from the theatre before the end, some were with young teenagers (in France, the movie is forbidden under 12)  and I could imagine their confusion   :(: the very first scene gives the rythm of the film  ;D!

Next one : Dallas Buyers Club

My favourite Kubrick's movie, just after  "2001 A Space Odyssey".

Vincent d'Onofrio ("Gomer Pyle") is amazing in the first part of the movie ; terrible scenes until the apocalyptic last one, soldiers walking between flames, singing the "Mickey Mouse Club" theme.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" Scorsese.

An amazing DiCaprio ... but not a good Scorsese to me ...

I saw "Sudden Impact" in a theatre that doesn't exist anymore , called "Alpha" , in Clermont Ferrand,  first week on screen in France.

The first Eastwood movie I saw with the "boyfriend" who became my husband, Cyrille  ;)

After the movies, we went to a Chinese restaurant  that disappeared too  :-\

I can't really realize that 30 years have gone ...

"Gravity" is one of the best (the best one ?) movies I saw in 2013 !

I liked the parts played by Sandra Bullock and Georges Clooney, the fact that they were "so close to Earth" but so far in reality ... I liked their calm, their logic, and of course, the beautiful and amazing images of Space and the International Space Station.

I have been a great fan of the NASA website for several years, and this article was very interesting to read  about "Gravity" :)

Sounds like a great Eastwood Christmas for you Rawhide.

I doubt I will get anything Eastwood related. I have all his movies and a lot of other things, like posters etc. It would be nice if my other half found something I didn't have though.  ;)

A few days ago, in a shop, looking at the "smart boxes" (maybe you have them in UK ? Virtual present like a nice hotel booked for you and your love (for exemple !), an exceptionnal event (air balloon, race cars ...), my daughter Colette said  :
" That would be great to have a smart box for Christmas that gives you the opportunity to have a diner in a nice restaurant with ... Tom Cruise, Di Caprio, Angus Young, Kavinski (her favourites  :)) and for you Mum, Clint Eastwood ! Why not ?"
Of course it was for fun,and we laughed a lot, trying to imagine the big diaries of these Stars ... but sure Lin. you haven't had that present yet  ;)

The world has lost a remarkable man. He will never be forgotten.

Rest in Peace, Madiba.

He was the Symbol of what can be "Faith in Man".
