Watched it on dvd this weekend.

Since I found out about the movie less than a month ago, I had no expectations except that I knew I would like the lead.   :)

The movie was ok, it is what one would expect when the lead is in his 80's. It told a story, had a feel good atmosphere and the two co-stars were quite a nice pair (Justin Timberlake was a singer at one point?)

Maybe it is just me but I wish Clint had made this movie a few years ago and that Gran Torino was his latest (and last) movie, love that film, watch it once a year.

General Discussion / Re: WAS 2012 A HORRIBLE YEAR FOR EASTWOOD?
« on: December 30, 2012, 02:38:32 AM »
I suppose it was for a number of reasons such us:

1.He starred in a TV commercial
2.His family starred in a reality show
3.His daughter burned a 100k$ bug
4.He starred in TWTC
5.He supported the republicans who eventually lost
6.He was reject by Beyonce
7.He is about to divorce??????

Let's wish for a better 2013
1. Haven't seen it but a commercial is a commercial, nothing more nothing less, not something that could affect him.
2. Bit of money and exposure for his wife and kids. The girls are beautiful and seem to be having fun. Not a problem for Clint who was rarely seen in the show.
3. Assuming it was a $100K bag, they might have been using some poetic licence.....
4. Haven't seen it yet (ordering it today from Amazon) but it is supposed to be ok.
5. He put his name on the line, that was gutsy, especially against a President like Obama.
6. Probably not a great loss.    :)
7. Haven't heard that one.

A busy year for Clint, not a bad one.

Stay in, put your feet up and watch the opening days play of the Boxing day test. (Cricket for you non aussies  :) )
It was a tough choice but I did end up going. Admittedly after the gym, I went to the local supermarket and bought a pizza for lunch.     :-\

Cricket is too slow for me, give me NFL, boxing or wrestling any day.     O0

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Favorite Current TV Shows
« on: December 25, 2012, 02:17:27 PM »
Love my tv shows, generally find them better than most movies (Clint excepted, of course!).

My favourites would be Justified and Breaking Bad but the absolute favourite is Mad Men, love that show.

Any Mad Men fans here?

Should be a sunny day in Victoria on Christmas Day. The day will be bittersweet as it is the first anniversary of my mothers passing, am not sure what i feel tomorrow.

What was wrong with American Rebel? I have read it and it seemed fine. It is the only Clint book I have read but it didn't say much bad things about him.

Five movies that I recommend and they can't be Clint, that makes it tough.....

In no order as I am going off the top of my alcohol-filled head....

1. First Blood - The original Rambo flick, Stallone is great in it.

2. Hachi - If you are a dog lover, you will cry.

3. The Godfather - loved it. I haven't read the thread as yet, but I bet there would be a few people here that feel the same.

4. Black Swan - This was so creepy.

5. The Ring - Naomi Watts is so good in this film. Don't watch it alone. Don't answer that phone!!

Mystic River.

Top movie following an excellent Dennis Lehane novel.

The end scene with the parade and the now widowed woman realising that the others are shunning her because she betrayed her husband thereby breaking the unwritten rule of Family First was powerful.

Watched three movies this weekend (the beauty of having pay-tv)

Wendy and Lucy - This is the story of a girl and her dog. Not hugely uplifting but worth a watch.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152850/

The Long Walk Home - The true story of the battle for civil rights in the 1950's South.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100046/

Love Happens - It has Jennifer Aniston in it so it must be good!    ^-^
