General Discussion / Re: Kyle Eastwood
« on: May 24, 2009, 02:07:42 AM »
This is a little late, but I saw & heard Kyle playing at the Bakersfield Jazz Festival on Friday, May 8.
He was great. The band was really good.
After his performance I got a couple autographs on my Honkytonk Man DVD and Letters From Iwo Jima CD.
Also had my picture taken with him and got to talk with him for a few minutes.
He was very nice.
Of course his new CD Metropolitan is being release on June 2.

General Discussion / Re: a FireFox remake ??

Well I always TRY to respect others opinions, but I still must disagree.
I don't know what you mean about "other side of the situation".
Maybe I just don't see another side.
There would be no reason to remake it. (Again my opinion)
The story can't be changed. It's a book from an author. That's what Firefox is.
What would a new actor do? Run around and do pretty much all the same things that Clint and the other actors did.
It seems to me, you wish for a remake because of poor acting from a non-star, non-leading role actor(s).

Most remakes happen AFTER the Director/Actors are dead and have no say or control about it.
I believe Clint is still alive.
Anybody ever ask HIM if he's cool about his movies being remade while he is still alive?

They used to remake movies, and they were good. Use the actors of the day. But recently I haven't seen any remakes that were better than the Originals. Why? Because those who are making them these days don't CARE about the originals. We're NOT FANs of the originals. Have NO Respect for what came before them. I ask you, why would they allow a remake of a movie or tv show, when all who are involved, The Writer, The Producer, The Director, and the Main Actors, were never Big Fans of Originals. None of them care. All they see is $$$$. And the remake sucks.

I don't want to ever see a remake of an Eastwood movie because it CAN'T be done any better. Period.
Oh, it can be updated. But who cares.
Would you really want to see Ben Afflack or someone else inside the cockpit of Firefox?
What would be the big change to warrant a remake?
Would it still be the same movie?
Like I said, they could get John Dykstra to update the effects, and have a Special Edition DVD.
That would be cool.

In my opinion, remaking a movie would indicate that the original wasn't very good, and someone can make it better.
I hate movie remakes. All of them.
Why not come up with something original?
If they want to make Metal Gear Solid, Go For It.
But don't make a movie calling it Firefox.
That would be a Darth Weinstein move. >:D

Nobody better try remaking a Clint movie or they'll get their A$$ Kicked. >:(
Firefox could use some updated effects though, for a re-release DVD.
I remember reading Firefox Down many years ago and really liked it.
No spoilers, but Gant doesn't exactly make it back with the Firefox like you think.
I wished Clint would have made Firefox Down. Maybe he still can. He just couldn't play the role though.
Or someone else could make it. That would be fine.
Just don't dare try redoin' a Clint movie.
