Eastwood News / Re: Burt Reynolds RIP
« on: September 06, 2018, 02:50:25 PM »

Sorry to hear about Reynolds who certainly had a long time friendship with Eastwood that covered probably 65 years. I always felt that Reynolds career floundered eventually was due to doing too many of those silly movies which in the beginning made him a box office star. I just never thought he challenged himself as an actor enough unlike Eastwood. In the long run though I think Reynolds had a good time all through it and relistically that's what its about in life. I'm not going to judge that... He was a good guy though...

Yeah, I agree AKA....great singer, but Streisand can't act either and her directing skills are dubious..Part of my problem is I have no interest anymore with 'mainstream' movies today. So in a sense I probably didn't give Adams a fair chance... All it's become is comic books and remakes ( Papillon as an example) and I have no interest. I still feel Eastwood should had put Swank in The Changeling instead of Jolie. That I'm never changing my mind about......

I'm not doubting her acting prowess. I'm just not a big fan of hers.  She's still cute though.....

AKA...when 'Curve' came out the reviews were lukewarm and I had no interest in it. I really can't expound on Amy Adams. To me she's just another actress on the conveyor belt and will be gone in a few years.

Actually watched 'Trouble With The Curve' last night for the first time on Netflix. Wasn't a bad movie. Eastwood was fine.  Not a fan of Amy Adams, but man she's cute as hell. John Goodman is always good.  Timberlake acts like his music- mediocre. Hilary Swank please come back........

You know a movie is bad when Slash looks more interested than Eastwood in the movie.

I agree on the William Smith impact.

Hard to believe this was on TCM last week. I can remember sinking in my seat at the movie theatre in 1978 cause I could not believe Eastwood could do a worse movie than 1977's The Gauntlet. At least The Gauntlet had some redeeming points, but even after all these years and the fact it made 100 mill at the box office which is even harder to believe its still a low point for me as far as Eastwood's movie's. The sequel was actually better which isn't saying much.....

Would had worked better if Eli Wallach was one of the henchmen........

I said it once before AKA23 in that G.T. was like a 'B' movie. It was a simple story and the fact it had mostly non actors that did a credible job. To me it was the closest movie Eastwood ever directed in Don Siegel's style. I don't think it's a bold statement.

Watched Coogan's Bluff the other night on TCM... Tisha Sterling certainly ranks in the top 3 of most yummy female costars Eastwood had. She is a florist somewhere in Idaho today. Time to go buy some potatoes and orchids.......

The Dead Pool solidified why that character has become ridiculous regardless of a horrid script...... Bird is still a good movie. The acting from Whitaker and Venora is first rate. My problem with Bird is it drags in the middle and all of a sudden it becomes the Red Rodney story.

Changeling would had been a better movie with a better actress. Jolie was miscast. The movie was about 20 minutes too long. Gran Torino after TOJW is Eastwood's best movie he ever directed which starred himself.

I always thought it was Sondra Locke since she stuck around for a few more movies unfortunately ...
