While spending a few minutes searching for any other possible HB Haggerty leads, I came across another question.

Somebody tell me if I've been on crack all this time, but I've always understood Don Siegel's cameo as the person walking across the screen in front of the police headquarters during this scene:

But under closer observation, it's clear it's a woman - unless Siegel decided to dress in drag for undisclosed reasons:

...and sporting a blonde wig at that:

If anything, I'd say it's the guy standing across the street staring:

Maybe all along that's who people were referring to in the first place, but again, I've always understood it as the person walking across the sidewalk. Unless it's a totally different scene he appears within the movie  ???

Agent, I had the same reaction when the new DVD came out ... I'd always thought that was the scene also, but now you can clearly see that the person in question is a woman. How bad can those early video transfers have been! It was probably the hat.

But, I wonder whether Matt didn't "find" Don while looking for someone else ... take a look at this cap he posted in that "H.B. Haggerty" thread ...

(Man in the trenchcoat, next to Clint.) It may be just the sideburns ... What do you think?

Here's a slightly enhanced detail ...

And here are Clint and Don on the set ...

I repeat that I'm not sure about this, but I wonder what everyone else thinks? Or does someone have a better candidate for the "Siegel cameo"?

Well I have never been sure, but I thought it was always this guy.

I think that's also a possibility, Philo!

Here are a couple of details from that shot, slightly enhanced ...

Unusual to see him without that much loved hat.

Anyone else have a place in the film where he might be?

and where is he as the doctor in Escape from Alcatraz?

Mayhaps he played all three? Maybe he's even the same character.  :o

Perhaps in philo's photo:

He's on his way to Hot Mary's place.

Now he's being held up for attacking an SFPD officer:

And now he wants to apologize to Harry for ruffing him up:

Thanks Wkc,

It is a good place for him to be with out being obvious. Everybody will be looking at Clint and some of us will be reading the credits.  :o

The guy in Philo's shot even wears the same sunglasses and jacket as Siegel in KC's photo of Eastwood and Siegel. 8)

Did Don make any cameo appearances in Coogan's Bluff?

Wow, so it does appear he may have made a few cameos in the film. Thanks KC and Philo for providing those. At first I had my doubts from looking at the opening credit shots from Philo, since it looked like a younger person to me (walking beside Clint), and the person's hair appears to be combed straight back, whereas Siegel usually combed it from the side:

This was taken from Play Misty For Me, filmed roughly around the same time as Dirty Harry, if I'm not mistaken.

But there may be a breeze blowing in that opening scene, I don't recall. After seeing KC's enhanced shots, I tried a couple myself to be more certain. It's hard to be 100% sure, but it could pass as him:

Also, the "Hot Mary" scene is the same story. It very well could be him, but hard to be 100% sure:

Who knows....maybe Siegel drops in unexpectedly througout the film wherever he pleases. After researching the opening swimming pool scene.....even that appears it could possibly be Siegel! ;)

Ya just never know. Some things we'll probably never really know for certain!

There was a breeze up on the roof, I can tell because of the stupid new sound effects.

Here I go again.  ::)

Agent, you're a riot!

Do you think Siegel (in blackface) could have done another cameo as "the brute"?  :o

Ya know KC, I don't doubt it now, after all we've uncovered.    ;D

I'm beginning to see Siegels everywhere.
