Of the few reviews I've read from the 'Film Critics' that saw the movie when it was shown @ AFI you already get the idea that most of these boneheads will find it difficult to even give a glowing review. Already one reviewer has proclaimed the movie will have a hard time at the box office for the reasons no one will remember this story or even care and it's not a top notch cast that will draw an audience. In fact, one review I read already predicted the movie will not make more than $35, 000,000 @ the Box Office. It's beyond nitpicking in a sense where " It's a well made movie and the cast are excellent in their roles, but...but...but..."....Look, it's a movie that will probably ostracize the media big time so like I said don't expect glowing reviews. That was already in the bank months before Eastwood uttered '" Action".....

well. I saw this coming.   :smitten:

Now that Richard Jewell has had its premiere at the AFI Fest, I've started a "Reviews and Features in the Media" thread for it. In the future, please put links to and quotes from all media reviews, cast and crew interviews (video and print), and similar stories in that thread. We'll reserve this older thread for box office performance and similar topics.

Here's the new thread: http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?topic=10899.0

Thanks for your cooperation! :)

As with the Hollywood Reporter and Variety reviews, the  runtime of Richard Jewell seems to be officially 131 min ,not as previously stated 129 min.....
This is confirmed on the British Columbia classification website. It is also rated there as P.G.
Details below.....

I've moved a few posts out of this thread and into the "Reviews and Features in the Media" thread (which is now called the "Reviews, Interviews and Features in the Media" thread. Please use that thread from now on for all of these things. :)
http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?topic=10899.0

I moved a few other posts into a new thread, which is called the "Awards and accolades news, rumors, etc." (All right, that's kind of awkward, we can change it if someone has a better idea.) It's been a while since we had an Eastwood film that was stirring awards speculation. 8) Feel free to post all news and discussion of this topic here:
http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?topic=10908.0

The "Production Information and News" thread can still be used for information about opening dates, runtime, box office, etc. Thanks for your cooperation.

Anyone planning on catching the movie opening day/weekend? I'll probably see it next week. The theater I live about two miles from doesn't have it.

I'm planning to see the first screening tomorrow at the Alamo theater I go to... if the roads aren't icy.

I wish you a great screening :)

In France, Richard Jewell is initially supposed to be released on January 22, as its French trailer announced it.
But some sources said that it could be released in February.
So, I figure that I have to be patient.

Well, according to Box Office Mojo and some facts Richard Jewell opened up to mediocre returns. 2500 theatres and a box office of $5,000,000 for the opening weekend is pretty dismal. In fact, it's the worst Eastwood opening in 40 years....

Well, it was all predictable at first place. so many directors had passed this project before, Fox/Disney passed it. but it was a personal project for Clint and WB helped him do it. No bradley cooper or tom hanks or even Clint Eastwood (in front of camera) here. Unlike Sully and American Sniper, it wasn't a new, more recent story, it was already a forgotten story. and older people just don't get in lines for movies on the first days. this is not Jumanji.

Has there been any mention about the budget for the movie?
