Sorry for your ordeal on the return trip. Bet there were some folks along the way there you'd have wished the lava on!

You wouldn't even believe my troubles with TSA agents. I was nearly arrested once in Boston. I've been really trying to not let them get to me, but it's really ridiculous to fly nowadays.

Brian, tell us more about your shots. I can't quite make out what that is on the ice.

Yeah, I'm looking at it thinking, why is there a portaloo there?

Sorry about that.  Not sure of the town, possibly Windham.  I guess you'd call that an "ice house", they were fishing there.  Taken one morning on the way home from my Dad's.

I grabbed this with my phone camera while strolling in the 70° weather in Central Park on Saturday afternoon:

I was lucky to capture the moment of maximum bubblification.

What a great picture! Perfect timing, but the little girls and the red balloon make the shot.

So, this guy is a professional bubble maker. Have you seen him doing this before?

Thanks, Matt! I've seen someone doing it at that spot in Central Park, couldn't swear it's the same guy. Another guy (I'm pretty sure) does it around Columbus Circle in the summer months.

Here's a few shots of Center City Philadelphia:

This is from One Liberty Place's Observation Deck. It's 57 floors up, and the highest point for public access in the city. It was fully enclosed, which I was disappointed by -- the glass was dirty, and the colors usually get messed up when shooting through glass. In this pic, you can see City Hall with the bronze statue of William Penn, the famous PSFS building, and the Ben Franklin Bridge. Everything on the other side of the Delaware River is Camden, NJ.

City Hall with William Penn atop:

The Giant Clothespin, which has been around almost as long as I can remember (built in 1976):

The tallest building in Philly is Comcast Center. I liked how the glass building reflected the smaller more ornate buildings around it:

And finally, my favorite Philly Bridge, the Ben Franklin Bridge, as seen from Penn's Landing:

Matt, you grew up in Philadelphia, right? I also want to ask about what the story is behind the giant clothespin. :o :D

How many times has Matt run up those stairs we see in Rocky, I wonder?

Matt, you grew up in Philadelphia, right? I also want to ask about what the story is behind the giant clothespin. :o :D

I was born and raised in Jersey, just past Camden NJ which you can see in the first image. I was doing one of those "You know you're from Jersey if..." surveys and one of the questions was "You say you're from Philly".  I don't really know why, but most of us do that. And yes, SK, I've Rocky Balboa-ed those Art Museum steps a few times.  8)

As for the Giant Clothespin, I'm glad you asked, because I looked into it, and found that the artist likes taking everyday objects and making them huge.  The artist is Claes Oldenburg, and a Google Image Search brings up a lot more of his pop art:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Claes+Oldenburg&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiUwej1js_SAhVH_4MKHd2dAOUQ_AUICCgB&biw=2859&bih=1604#tbm=isch&q=claes+oldenburg+sculptures&*

I particularly like his bike tire:

And his ice cream cone:

As for our Clothespin, other see some hidden meaning to it... like two lovers embracing, and the 76 symbol (the wire part, which shows the 6 on the side we see, and probably the 7 on the other side. It was commissioned for the Bicentennial, 1976, so that makes sense.

Here's another I think is cool -- his three way plug looks like a cannon in the right setting.

Oh Gant! You're in my favorite country? (Outside the U.S., and I'm not so sure about that anymore.) Whereabouts?

Cool, I like it there a lot..  We flew  to Stockholm, then boarded the cruise liner which set out  for the night. My god those Swedes know how to party. Lots of bands performed, we went on last around  2 in morning..

It took most of the day to get back to Stockholm and the views were amazing (forgive my jokey pic) beautiful scenery.
I'm also a fan of their urban landscapes.. I've always liked the place and could almost imagine living there myself...

Most expensive beer in the world tho !!!

Back on page 1 of this thread, I posted some pictures of the covered bridge from my neighborhood growing up. Well, I guess the sign wasn't clear enough -- because a big truck got stuck under it.  Bridge is closed indefinitely for repairs.

That's what he gets for looking back at the woman in the truck following him instead of watching the road signs! :D

Taken in Maine yesterday and today.   Dealing with my dad's cabin.   Back home now, in New Hampshire.
