Yes, it's very nice.  One of these visits I think I'll place a chair in the yard, have some coffee, do some reading and enjoy the sounds of nature.

I bought a new camera and took it up to the Pocanoes for a spin.

Great pic! How far away were you?

Are you going to be able to see the eclipse where you are?

I'm further away than it looks. I have this quite zoomed in. I'd guess I was maybe 75 yards away.

Are you going to be able to see the eclipse where you are?

No.  >:(  Like a dick, the greatest natural phenomena to possibly ever occur in Nashville, and I'll be in Alaska. I tried to rearrange my trip, and it couldn't be switched to another date. So, I'm going to travel to the next total solar eclipse in the U.S., which won't be too far away:  2024.

Not as grand an image, but I like it anyway. Also from the Pocanoes:

And I thought the board would auto-censor that word on my post. Oh well. Now I know.  ;D

I guess the name is OK, or there would be quite a few people who could never get a mention around here! :D

I'm wishing I had made travel plans to see the eclipse while there was still time. I did check around a bit, but everything was sold out ages ago, apparently.

Oh, nice squirrel, by the way ... which reminds me of a sight gag from The Naked Gun involving Leslie Nielsen, a taxidermied mammal and a young woman on a ladder.

Anyone know what this creature might be? I'm having a hard time finding out with a general Internet search.

It bit me while I was eating lunch under the trees on the plaza in front of the Library today. It is eensy. (That's about a square inch of a paper towel behind it.) Bite itches like crazy.

I don't know but that bug reminds me of a famous line from Major Dutch Schaefer in Predator. :D

Hope you are OK, KC. :(

I went to Alaska last week, and took a ton of shots. I'll just post a few, and it will be some time between them because I have literally thousands of shots and I only want to post a handful so I don't bore everyone with my vacation photos.  ::)

I had a bucket list of shots I wanted to come home with, and of course one was the bald eagle. They were harder to photograph than expected, because they like to sit at the very top of the tallest tree in the forest, and Alaska has some mighty tall trees. Ultimately, I had to settle for this shot, which would have been much better if the sky wasn't so white (there was very little sunlight last week in the Juneau area).

And here's one of many scenic shots:

When I was taking this, I thought the gulls were in danger. Now I see he's actually looking right at the camera.

Not far enough.   ;D

Just across the lake. I actually never thought there was danger because I was in a group of people. But, now seeing him tracking me and looking dead in the camera in several shots is a bit of an uneasy feeling.
