In three months, I arrived, then BDC28, then Daisy. And we all stuck around. I wish Daisy was still here -- she made the board very interesting!  Here's one way she'd do it:

https://web.archive.org/web/20011226171129/http://www.clinteastwood.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000994

And the board did get a facelift at that point -- different look, same URL.

Ally mentions the star system in that thread... I remember that! Can't say there was ever much reason for it, but if I remember right, Matt was the one that first rated me. ;D

And yes, Daisy is pretty funny there too! All the ladies were going crazy then! :D

One month prior to my joining, Gant joined in January, 2001. He was Mitchell Gant then.

According to this incarnation of the site, Conan goes back to November, '98.

We have an official start date for D'Amb:  3/25/2000.  Though, I'd be more happy to see an official D'Amb sighting again.

That image has an email address, which I could "black out", but I've written him about 3x already and haven't gotten a response, so I don't think it's working anymore.

Does anyone around here remember "Jake", and his script "The Return of Dirty Harry", which was posted here:

https://web.archive.org/web/20010618221825/http://www.clinteastwood.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000101

And all four pages of links work!

I thought it was late '97, but yea maybe '98.  I started off cracking jokes with Steve, and then the first big post I remember was Holden's infamous "Friends of the ACLU" post.  Holden started a thread on behalf of all of the criminals brought to justice by Dirty Harry, going on about their rights, and then he attacked the Dirty Harry character!  He was pranking everyone of course, and stuck with the bit for a while.  Everyone fired off a nastygram in response; it was hilarious.

That's awesome that you joined the board to go after Gunny.

Maybe I'll find that! I'll keep looking through this stuff. It's pretty addicting once you start sifting through these links.

I found early flummary:

Yes, the star system was hysterical. It really pissed off so many people. I can say that because I had a perfect rating. :P

But, I remember people dinging people with 1 star ratings. It was ridiculous. So the stars were banished forever.

Christopher, did I give you 5 stars? Can I revote?  ;D

It's Cal Anderson with Clint!

(That pic is posted in the Photos section of that earliest website).

Then I found this explanation for how he met him here:

Quote
Thank you for your post. The condensed version goes something like this. My wife and another couple were having dinner at The Mission Ranch in Carmel. We were joking about how it would be cool if Clint stopped by. Then my wife turned around towards the front outside patio and said "Oh my God, Clint Eastwood is coming in." My back was to the door so just looked at her and said "yeah right." Then our friends said the same thing so when I turned around..sure enough! Anyway - we had dinner and so did he. Afterward, we approached him as he was leacing and simply introduced ourselves. We talked briefly and then my wife snapped that photo that is on the photo gallery page. It was a brief encounter but one that inspired me to create this site. This happened the week before "The Bridges of Madison County" came out. Well - that's my 15 seconds. Hope it didn't bore ya ;-)

:(  No Wayback captures of the forum between February 1998 https://web.archive.org/web/19980219161104/http://www.man-with-no-name.com/messageboard/wwwboard.html

and September 1999 https://web.archive.org/web/19990508161053/http://www.man-with-no-name.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/Ultimate.cgi

I didn't see any posts from Holden, KC or Conan on the threaded board, and by the next capture linked above, KC was already a moderator in 9/99 (yes, I realize none of the links work).  I'll keep trying, but I don't think I'm going to find anything. We know all three joined between those dates, though.

KC -- when did you arrive, and what's the earliest you remember? How did you find the board? Who was here that we might know when you got here?

GMAT and KC were mods already in March of '99.  I found one random page.

I didn't join until probably July of 2001.

I am still digging, but I know you were here in July, 2001.  We have your post here (which was brought over from the old board):

I tried but wasn't able to read all the back and forth posts on the homosexual context of the movie, so hopefully I'm not being repetitive, but here is my opinion: I don't see it either. But to be fair Lightfoot is definitely presented as sexually ambiguous, and I think it comes more as a sign of the times, sexual freedom thing versuses Red's version that masculinity is very strictly defined -- his father was probably a WWII vet, and that's what he thought of as being a man.
In my opinion the homosexual subtext exists strictly with that character, or more like it a bisexual context.

But regardless its a great movie, a classic, one of my favorites.

Doug, I can't find anything of yours from that era on the old board. There are no Wayback captures between April '01 and Dec '01. So, at least we know you were here in July. May that have been your first post? You said you didn't have time to read the whole thread, so I'm guessing you weren't around when we started it on June 29th, 2001. So, I'd say you're right with July, 2001.

And here's the first screencap I have of your presence on the board via the Wayback Machine:

You had the last post in the thread about the "Orangutang Films" in the News section on 12/06/01.

EDIT: Here's the link to the board, but many of the links don't work:  https://web.archive.org/web/20011213214845/http://www.clinteastwood.net/webboard.html
