Is that the longest winless drought for any major sporting team in the world?
Well, I don't know about other countries -- but it was for the U.S.

And in Major League Baseball ... the Cleveland Indians now own the longest winless drought.

I fell asleep before the final out  :( . Then I woke up as they were celebrating. Congrats to the Chicago Cubs!

And SK had a good question... I wonder what some of the longest droughts are? I know Cleveland takes the MLB mantle now and the Toronto Maple Leafs hold the NHL Stanley Cup mantle at around 50 years or so, I believe.

I went to bed last night around 11 eastern time, and found out this morning that it was quite a game! Congrats to the Cubs.

Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs. They won the World Series, their first championship since 1908, and ended the longest title drought in American professional sports, 108 years. Their World Series win now gives the Arizona Cardinals [NFL] the longest championship drought in professional sports.

It's a one year longer drought than the Cleveland Indians.

The Cubs should've have won last year and the scene in Back To The Future Part 2 would have proved correct.  :D

How long was the Red Sox draught?

From 1918 to 2004. 86 years.

From 1918 to 2004. 86 years.

And the end of that drought was not fun at all for Yankees fans. I remember it well.

Unfortunately Hiroshima Carp of Kuroda at Japanese championship league missed the victory! :'(
But for Kuroda it was the best season and this was the last of his baseball life!!  :(
The last pitching of Kuroda was against the young Ohtani player who is attracting attention in the current baseball world and then Kuroda beated Ohtani outfielder fly!!
 Great Kuroda!!  8)

All the best to Hiroki Kuroda in retirement! He was a great Yankee and a very underrated Major League pitcher during his time in the U.S.
