This definitely looks like a Best Actor play for Eastwood. Nobody else even has any dialogue in this trailer, and the whole trailer is framed around an emotional monologue from his character. I donít think Warners is being honest that this is just a commercial film that they are releasing during Oscar season as counter programming.

Four months from start to finish (almost).........what a man, what a team.......88 years young!
PS. ....Andy Garcia finally officially acknowledged......

A subtle link with "Hereafter", for which the composer Eastwood borrowed an excerpt from the 2nd movement of Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto. In this trailer, unlike the trailer of "American Sniper", it seems that the music is already that of the film (in any case, it sounds Eastwood), and we recognize the 9 notes, played on the piano, of the most famous variation from the the same Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini . Obviously, Clint loves SergeÔ Ö

I had a feeling watching the trailer that this could have a similar ending to Gran Tarino.

Clint sacrifices himself to bring down the cartel?

Could be. They filmed a funeral scene, but this movie is about drug dealing, so anyone is fair game for dying!

Sasha Stone agrees with me.

I think word on the street was that The Mule wasnít an Oscar contender. Yeah, not buying it. If it looks like an Oscar contender, walks like an Oscar contender, talks like an Oscar contender, itís an Oscar contender. I appreciate their attempt to avoid the dog and pony show of the season but a movie like this, released in December 14? Itís a film to strongly consider for year end award consideration.

I have not read any comments from a journalist to point out that with this film, Eastwood would achieve the record of the oldest actor-director of all time ... unless you have in mind someone who would have achieved this feat beyond 88 years old?

This is an effective trailer, but as a greedy Eastwood fan, I want more. I would have liked to see a more traditional trailer which included scenes of Clint interacting with other major cast members. I wonder if they just didnít have the time to put that together since Eastwood just finished the film. This felt much more like a teaser trailer to me.

remember American Sniper? this is a more American Sniper-like trailer than other usuals out there. Here we have piano notes and Eastwood's voiceover instead of heartbeat sound in American Sniper's. Actually, i gotta say, this is kinda stuff I like more.
