Hello again gang. Long time no post... I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned this on the board before, but Clint happens to have his own tomato varietal, aptly named Clint Eastwood Rowdy Red. I found this out the other day when my 'sis, who is a member of the University of California Master Gardener's Program, brought one by my dad's house and planted it in his backyard, along with some other heirloom varietals. Here's some more info. on the species and where to order seeds: https://www.tomatofest.com/clint-eastwood-tomato-seeds.html So, now you know what type of tomato to put on your BLT or add to a pot of spaghetti ... -Blu

Hi Blu, it's been a long time! Good to see you again. I'm pretty sure I couldn't grow a tomato if my life depended on it, but I'd love to taste one of these Rowdy Red tomatoes after reading that article -- best tasting tomato in 50 years? That's a lot of tomatoes. From the article Blu posted: wanting to give this special tomato a boost into recognition and acknowledge Clint, I asked Clint's permission, to name it, "Clint Eastwood's Rowdy Red," after Rowdy Yates, the character played by Clint in his old television series Rawhide." Clint replied, "Sure, Gary, name it whatever you want."

Hmmm... Well, tomatoes only grow about 2-3' high on average. Does your property owner give you access to the roof ?? Surely, there must be community urban gardens in New York City. In Central Park maybe ? In any case, I'll keep you guys posted on the Rowdy Red in my Dad's garden...
Actually, a close friend of mine has a plot in a community garden not too far from here. I don't think she grows tomatoes, though, except cherry tomatoes. Blu, if you had a tomato named after you, would it be the Blu Red?
