Classic Members

You may have noticed that some of our members' names are showing up in pink, and they are now referred to as "Classic Members."

We have just established a dedicated forum for political discussion, but members need to apply to be able to see the forum and post in it. You must also have been a member for at least one year and achieved the status of at least "Senior Member" (250 posts or more).

We've held a long-term view of avoiding politics here on the board, so this is strictly on a trial basis at the moment. We expect everyone to follow the special Guidelines for the forum:

No name calling, no insulting other people's opinions, no profanity, no defaming other posters or anyone active in public life.

You can't say "Thomas Jefferson [fill in your favorite living guy's name] is an idiot, a traitor, a wife beater," etc. You can say, "Thomas Jefferson doesn't understand or is pretending not to understand the complexity of the issues here ..." etc.

Please be aware that this is a trial and if there is any trouble in the political forum, it will be shut down. Either temporary or permanently.

I think we should call the dedicated forum "The Saloon", the "Sports Bar" version of the controversial posts that don't belong elsewhere on the board.
