There's an article on Clint over at IGN.com
full article: http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/452/452418p1.html
in which they include some of Clint's 'comments' from over the years.  I particularly liked this one:

"The gentlest people in the world are macho males, people who are confident in their masculinity and have a feeling of well being in themselves. They don't have to kick in doors, mistreat women, or make fun of gays. Most people, who'll remember me, if at all, will remember me as an action guy, which is OK. There's nothing wrong with that. But there will be a certain group, which will remember me for the other films, the ones where I took a few chances. At least, I like to think so." (Source: Affluent Golfer.)

I can't say I appreciated the author's reference to 'Honkytonk Man' as a 'misfire' >:( , although I don't really have any argument with his view of 'The Rookie' as 'Clint's most soulless and formulaic vehicle'.
