Finally it seems that there is a special edition that will be worth shelling out the dough for!

I see that there's a draw to win GBU Special Edition. I've already ordered my copy on the net and it should arrive any day now, (Region 2 edition is out before the Region 1 for some reason) so this doesn't really concern me, but I was wondering, what about non-Region 1 members? As in, what if someone wins the DVD who lives in the UK like me? Do you send a Region 2 copy somehow, or is the draw only for those residing in the US?

I just wondered, that's all.

Oh yeah, vik, I just saw that too  ???

I appreciate the prizes are non-negotiable, as in, the moderators are only provided with Region 1 DVDs, as Cal stated, but I can't help thinking it isn't very fair to the non-US members on the site...and there are quite a few. I'm not getting at anyone...just an observation.

Cal has stated in the contest rules the following:

Quote
Due to restrictions by the studios (who provide the prizes), only residents of Region 1 territories (namely the USA or Canada) are eligible.

I don't think any of us should be complaining about whether we are included or excluded in this contest.  If the prizes are made available by someone else then we all have to accept what is offered.  Cal doesn't even have to offer this to any of us....you know?  So, I think we should just be grateful.

Maybe other regions will be included in future contests and Region 1 will not.

Ok, we weren't getting at anyone, right, vik? ;)

Mine was a statement rather than a complaint ;) Maybe the rest of us will be included next time...here's hoping.

So all you have have to do to be eligible to win the DVD is to be a registered active member?

Yes. It will be a random drawing of registered members whom have made at least one post. The idea was to possibly increase board interest and membership while also giving those regulars a chance to win the new DVD. A new winner will be picked out each day starting the 18th and will run for 5 days.  Good luck!

PS - Sorry other regions are not included. The prizes are coming from the nice folks over at MGM so I really had no say in the matter.  ;)

Sounds like another money grab by the studious. They know that there are a lot of Eastwood fans that willpay for just ONE added feature to a DVD. I will probably buy it on sale somewhere(BEST BUY CIRCUIT CITY) when it comes out.

Well I dunno, but it looks pretty good to me. My copy (Region 2) came today in a nice sleeve...with a case that folds out with two discs and a little guide. I presume the Region 2 version is the same as the Region 1.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet as I was just out at the cinema seeing Kill Bill Vol.2 (pretty good), but I'd like to make some time to watch it later if possible. Quentin Tarantino is apparently a fan...he's called GBU 'my most favourite movie in the world' and 'cinematically perfect.' I haven't watched it for a long time so I'll have some fun watching it this weekend...

Allycat, I remember when I saw the Sergio Leone documentary on AMC Quentin Tarntino was one of the guests being interviewed. He did mention the GB&U was one of his favorite movies.

Makes sense since Kill Bill is a homage to those (spaghetti westerns) movies along with the kung fu movies as well.

Saw Kill Bill #2 last night and it's pack full of Morricone scores from all three of Clint's "Man with no name" westerns along with many others.  Titoli from Fistful of Dollars really sticks out...

I noticed all the dollars themes until I got kicked out!!!!! It wasn't like I was causing any trouble, I was just in there watching the film, and got right up to the Elle Driver and "The Bride" fight! my Dad was laughing at me, and my friends Dad is now taking the Pee, saying "Josh, you be Mr.White, Bobby, You be Mr.Blue" etc...But from what I saw, I thought is was great, espically as the love of my life was in it (Uma Thurman  :-*)

I'm sorry, Aline ...  :'(

Can we keep this thread on topic, please? Comments relating to the Special Edition DVD of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly go here. Comments relating to Tarantino's use of Morricone's Spaghetti Western  themes, or anything else relating in general to the Leone films, can go in the Westerns forum. If you want to discuss Tarantino's latest production in general, please do so in the Off Topic forum.

Thank you.  :)

I'm looking forward to this special edition dvd.  My wife took me to see this newly dubbed version in Cambridge, MA.(bless her heart!)  I wish Clint & Eli had dubbed their scenes back in the 60's.  Still, better late than never!
