And am now into a US comedy series called Brockmire... very funny. Anyone else
 watching this one ?

I've never seen the original Danish-Swedish series The Bridge (Broen or Bron). Which is odd, because I'm a big fan of Scandinavian noir in general (to read or watch). I think when it came out, streaming wasn't such a big deal and there was no easy way to watch it. I see it's now available on Amazon Prime Video.

I did see the British-French remake The Tunnel, which ran three seasons and was pretty good. That is, the acting was great, the stories were preposterous and the denouements were disappointing. (I like my cops to succeed in at least some aspects of their jobs.)

I think you should give the original Bridge a whirl... I think you might like it. Ive really enjoyed it.. isnt there a US re make also ?
Have you seen Before We Die ? Another Swedish thriller that?s been recommended to me.. Also Marcella... a British Nordic Noir series from the creator of The Bridge..

and then theres  Brockmire ? A baseball set comedy... 😊

My local PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) station ran Before We Die last year, and I dutifully put all ten episodes on my DVR. But after watching the first two or three, I lost heart. It was just too depressing, at least at that point in the pandemic. I'll probably finish watching it eventually. I see there's a Season Two around, also.

The plot, if you're interested, involves evil drug dealers and conflicted police officers.

The first extended plot thread ends in a chase sequence with the worst possible outcome. Personally, I like my chase sequences to end the way they were designed to by the first brilliant minds who figured out that a chase sequence is something you can do in the movies that you can't do onstage: I want the hero to rescue the maiden tied to the railroad tracks before the freight train runs over her. The audience, having been driven nearly mad by suspense, heaves a huge sigh of relief, and we move on. If she's squashed by the train before he gets there, we're left thinking: What was the point of all that?

It would be premature to call it a favorite current show but I'm looking forward to Clarice that starts in the US Thursday night. It takes place about a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs. I'll watch the first few episodes at least to see if I like it. I think there's only going to be 10 episodes for this season (which has become normal for streaming shows, but this is on CBS--and I'm sure the reason is because it's around the middle of the usual TV season).

I did rewatch The Silence of the Lambs a few nights ago to prepare for it.

Am currently watching all two seasons of Shrill starring Aidy Bryant.. I think its originally on Hula
In my opinion its a brilliant, edgy, superbly cast and very funny show...

My wife has been watching a lot of that lately. I?ve seen bits and pieces and it didn?t grab me. Need to watch from the beginning to form any sort of opinion.

I?ve watched about the first half dozen episodes of Schitts Creek and I?m not feeling the love. Should I continue?

I'd say no. I think those episodes are pretty representative of the show as a whole, and if you're not liking it after 6 episodes, that's not likely to change. In most cases, I usually watch a couple of episodes of a show and if I don't like it, I'll stop watching it, but I did have an experience similar to you with "Modern Family" recently. I watched 7 episodes, since I know that it's a very popular, Emmy-award winning show, but I just never got what all the hype was about, so I stopped watching it.

Does anyone have similar experiences with a popular show that you watched, but you just didn't get what was supposed to be so great about it? What shows?

I?d stick with Schitts Creek a little longer.. I think it took me a little while to get it but I ended up really enjoying
the writing and the characters...

We watched the first couple of episodes and it was ok. Another case of hearing great things but didn?t grab me. I suppose we should start watching again.

I watched the first episode of Cobra Kai when it was still a Youtube TV show. I liked it but didn't watch any more. I think I'll check it out when I get Netflix again, which will probably be this summer.

Last week I watched The Hardy Boys Hulu series that came out late last year. I am a fan of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, and I enjoyed this series. It went in a direction I wasn't expecting. Hopefully there's a second season.

I've watched the first five episodes and have another three on the DVR. I like it over all. There's a couple of really good ones in there. I don't like everything about where they took the show, but I'm willing to go with it to see where else it goes.

I recently watched Star Trek: Lower Decks, a Paramount+ series from last year. It was a lot of fun. The second season starts in August.

Only the first episode so far.

I?m just not a binge watcher. It took me about 4 months to watch the 7 episodes of The Queen?s Gambit. Still on the first season of Schitt?s Creek.

I?ve never come across a show on streaming that I need to watch as soon as I can.

Plus I?ve started reading more again lately.

Ive just started performing live again after a year and a half so if things continue to open up over here there might be a little
less tv watching in future... 😊

Anyone seen Only Murders in the Building ? It?s streaming on Disney + here in Australia. Starring Steve Martin and Martin Short, who make a podcast of a murder that took place in their apartment building in New York. It?s quite funny and I?m really enjoying it.

Going back a few months I started seeing promos for a new series called Ghosts. It was just within the last couple weeks I learned that it is a remake of a UK show. I've watched several shows of the UK version on HBO Max, and then last week the American version started with the first two episodes airing. Both are funny shows. Of course the American version is very similar, but they changed a few things here and there. And you can have different ghosts present in America than you would in England.
