Read this on Moviehole under an Alien and Predator story:

 Talking of sturdy storylines, the idea for a new "Dirty Harry" that I heard today - over at Warner - is just brilliant. I won't say too much, but let's just say it flips back to the original film, and it's Clint Eastwood playing 'old' Harry, in a sort of 'Dark Knight Returns' vein. Hoping that baby happens.

Sounds pretty cool if it happens.  Deep down I would like to see another Dirty Harry movie for some closure and just to see Harry back in action.

I could have told them to use the old 'Dark Knight Returns' style for any future Harry project .

No doubt Clint will love it .

What's Dark Night Returns style ?

It's refering to the Batman graphic novel series, "The Dark Knight Returns". It followed Bruce Wayne's return as Batman from many years of retirement. Gotham City had turned into a huge crap hole and crinimals were just running loose. A gang of mutants had begun to terrorize the city and Wayne decided it was time to come back as the Batman. By this time Superman had sold out and was doing jobs for the U.S. Government and they told him to stop Batman, and a nice climactic battle happened betweened the two and Batman ended up "dieing"  .

So I guess they want Harry to tackle a city full of mutants, face off with Superman and then eventually die.   I tell yah, it could probably do well in theatres.

I hope this is just a rumour. In my opinon Clint should not do another Dirty harry movie, doesn;t anyone remember how weak the Dead Pool was?

I'd pay box office price to see him in a good western

What's Dark Night Returns style ?

Dark Knight Returns was a critically and financially successful graphic novel which played a part in returning the Batman mythos to an all time high in terms of the status of the comic book.

Dark and brooding as per the usual Batman style, and a realistic way of presenting him other than as a perpetually young man.

I'm not actually that crazy about every aspect of this book, perhaps because I didn't like the artwork that much.  But as I recall the story was very good.

If a new dirty hary movie should be made it should definetly be :

the old 'Dark Knight Returns' style for any future Harry project

Clint wouldnt jump in a spandex,(should he ever do it, it should be DKR, by the way) but to see an old, probably retired harry join active duty once more (he got some experince in fighting terrorists, so that could be a way to put him back in.), against the criminals and the level of crime (and the ways it´s done now) get a severe beating (the way the old batman gets it) because he thinks himself too young, then  reflect on it in a "william munny way", maybe even elaborate on the harry role, (the way he fought crime, hias attitude against his superiors, e.t.c.) and then go on for the final showdown with his trusty old 44.
That would be an excellent way to end the dirty harry series ,instead of the dead pool.
As i earlier stated ; I´m waiting to count my chickens untill theyre hatched, but one can always dream.

Hi Guys:
                  I said it a 100 times. Eastwood will never do another Dirty Harry and I think the man is smart enuff to realize that. Why???..They should have quit after Magnum Force. The character had become cartoonish and to be honest I didnt find any of the villians or storylines that compelling. Sudden Impact was despite a fave of alot of you was really not that interesting, but maybe it has to do with the fact that Sondra Locke was in it and I never liked her.
It's bad enuff hollywood is sequeled out and most of these movies today r beyond recycled crap, but Eastwood has a drawing board for the next 5 years it seems for movies he is involved in.

/I totally agree, let Harry series be put to rest.
Mangum Force was boring to say the least.
Hollywood already tried to bring back harry in the Dead Pool.
