I saw what appeared to be a Texas flag in Dirty Harry.  It was during the sequence of flags, an hour and twenty seven minutes into the film. Anyone else seen it?

It's across from City Hall (where the next scene takes place), in City Hall Plaza. There's a double row of flags. They mostly seem to be U.S. flags, but what appears to be some state flags are mixed in. (If any native San Franciscan know more about just what flags are on view, let's hear from you.  8) )

The panning shot that shows you the flags just before the City Hall scene begins with a dissolve from the scene with Scorpio hijacking the bus, so that explains the hills in the background. At the end of the shot, the background is only the blue sky and you see the California flag (at right), the Texas flag and the U.S. flag.

Then, the scene changes to inside City Hall, and there's a POV shot for Lt. Bressler looking out from a balcony at the plaza with the flags, where Harry's car is about to pull up.

Here's a more recent shot of City Hall with the plaza as seen on the site "Movie Places.TV" ... it's one of the locations shown for The Wedding Planner.

I e-mailed the City Hall tourist information and here's what they said:

Quote
The flag was placed there by the veterans of foreign wars.  Texas was a  republic  until 1846 represented by the lone star flag. The flag  remained after the battle of the Alamo.
