It sounds like something Bronco Billy would say.

Nope, not Bronco Billy.

It is a movie set in contemporary times, or was when it was filmed, at least.

Once again (since we've turned the page), the quote:

Quote
You guys are amazing, you know?

Not sure if this has been guessed yet, so here it goes:  In The Line Of Fire?

You know, I'm beginning to think you guys are not so amazing.

Not In the Line of Fire.

Wow, I'm going to have to give this much more thought unless/until someone else comes up with the answer.  :o

If it's not John Wilson, I'm out too.  That's my last guess...

Can't "you guys" start the other way around ... try to think of a scene in which Clint's character might actually utter, "You guys are amazing, you know?" He would have to be addressing several people, probably all of whom are male, and he would have to be either actually surprised or expressing himself with considerable sarcasm. It doesn't fit the plotline or Dave Garver's psychology in Misty and, though I suppose you could imagine Wilson addressing his African friends in those general terms, it doesn't sound like an early-1950s choice of words, which reminds me that I already gave you this clue: "It is a movie set in contemporary times, or was when it was filmed, at least." White Hunter, Black Heart was set in a time period nearly forty years before its release date of 1990.

It is not either Play Misty for Me or White Hunter, Black Heart.

^^^Good advice KC, thanks.  That's what I've been attempting all along, to picture a scene where Eastwood's character would be addressing a couple of guys or more.  I thought it could be Hemlock addressing Mr. Dragon ("you guys" being C2), Philo addressing the bikers in Any Which Way You Can, Horrigan addressing the agents in In The Line Of Fire or McCaleb addressing the detectives in Blood Work.  Play Misty For Me was a stab in the dark... ahem, pun intended.  :D

Wait...has anybody guessed Gant in Firefox?  Well, that's my next guess.

I can't see it being Firefox. I could imagine him saying it in Heartbreak Ridge, but since I can't name a scene, it's just another guess.

The more I think of it, the more likely it seems Gant was talking to the guys who hired him to steal the Firefox from the Russians.

Me too. With a quote like that, you can almost imagine any Eastwood character saying it. (I forgot about the current day hint. :-[)

But JED -- YOU GOT IT! You solved the longest standing trivia question of all time (I'm guessing 3 years is a record).

^^^Thank you!  :)  Does this mean I'm up?  I'll try to think of something soon but if someone else wants to run with this, no problem!  O0
