I don't. Is there a way to block our information, like Cal's?

I don't like it either.  There are potential problems with this.

I'm also not a fan of it.

Well, maybe it should be blocked for all but "guests." I kinda like knowing what THEY'RE up to!  ;)

If you don't wish to partake in the fun, you can always hide your online status. (An option in your profile.) It will be hidden from all normal users.

But I think most of us don't mind showing others that we're online ... it's just the idea of letting others know what we're doing that very moment that bothers some people.

Cal, I think there might be a little too much information available now. In the "Who's online" feature, members can see everything we're doing now, even if you're sending a private message to someone. It's a little unnerving. Is that really necessary?
Wow, I really haven't looked around here too much yet. Not a very private message if folks know you're sending one.

I just looked around and can't find that function. Maybe that's just a moderator thing?

Nope, it's not Christopher. Keep looking, it's there.  :D

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

It doesnt state who you are sending a message to.  I really don't see any issues with this at all.  For those that don't like it, feel free to toggle your online status but I think for a while it will stay on as it is part of a set of features that when  turned off, would eliminate alot of the other stats on this board. It's not an exact science either. And it's not like the world is going to end if you knew that someone was sending a private mesage or viewing a specific topic either. At least that is my feelings on this.  :)

Well, certainly the world isn't going to end, no matter what goes on here. But, I don't really like the lack of privacy.

I'm invisible now. I guess that's the better option for me.

Hey, found it (if it was a snake, it would've bit me :D).

That's not too bad. I remember the old board used to keep track of where the members were last seen at. The only other issue would be, I guess, if you didn't want people to see you viewing other people's profiles.

I do like the feature that I just found where it let me know that another post had been made before it would post mine. :)

I really don't think I mind if people know what I'm doing online here. But, I guess I can understand if some people do.

I wonder how many users would ever find that feature anyway ... and then, how often they'd use it?  ???

Well, I like that too, except that I don't always see that it hasn't let me post (because it takes you out to the forum index page first) and a couple of times I've come back to my post quite a bit later and realized that it never got posted!  :o

It blocks you from posting? What if you just wrote a big, long post? Will it be gone? And what do we do for 15 Questions? ???

It's not gone, it's still in the "Message" box, and the new post appears underneath it.

It might actually help in "15 Questions." I don't know how many times I've posted something that someone else has already answered by the time I get mine in (answers to questions about how the categories work, what films we consider "cop films," etc.).

That's odd it would do that to you, KC. I just got this message when I clicked to reply:

Warning - while you were reading a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.

When I went to post my previous post, it kept my message intact in the box, but just told me another post had been posted that I hadn't seen.

Maybe it's a Firefox thing.  :D

Like Brendan, I'm overjoyed to note that the tags and smilies now work they way they're supposed to in Firefox, as well as IE.  8)

I like the new edit feature. Where you have time to edit a post before it says, "Last Edited ----------". That's nice. Also, yes, the ability to use the tags now using Firefox is great.  8)
