You should lose the Imageshack links, though. Do as I suggested and post the code from the "My Images" page, or just cut out the  [ URL=http://imageshack.us] [ /URL] tags around the [ IMG] [/IMG] tags. That advertisement for "The dumb test" is especially annoying.

Done. 8)

I also modified that post with the two avs from The Changeling.

Oh what the heck, here they are again.

Those are great now! :)

I wish the avs on this site weren't so small ... the other site where I post often uses 90 x 90, and that seems much more reasonable.

These four I originally got from doing a google image search for Clint Eastwood. Then resizing them for avatars.

Not sure about the first two, but the third is obviously from Kelly Heroes and the last from Gran Torino.

Can I use this photo of Clint as my avatar in my propfile? If yes, can someone assist me in cropping this?

I figured out how to resize an image in Paint without distorting it. Load your image, select a square area, and go to Image and Crop. Then, look at Image and "Attributes." You'll get something like Width 448 Height 465 ... it won't be exactly square. But you can resize it here. Just replace the larger of the two dimensions with the smaller, so the "Attributes" are Width 448 Height 448 (or whatever). Of course, make sure you're not cutting off anything important.

Now you have a square, but bigger than you want. Go to Resize/Skew and figure out what % you need to reduce it by to get it to av size (65 x 65). Hint: Use Windows Calculator and divide 65 by the height/width of your picture. Type that percentage in both Horizontal and Vertical under Resize.

That should do it.

KC,
where can I find this cropping tool you mention? I'd like to crop the photo of Clint I just posted on this thread a few moments ago.

The program "Paint" is found in your Accessories folder. If you have a recent version of Windows, click Start, then All Programs, then Accessories.

In this case, you can't save the large image as is to your computer, so you would start with one of the small ones (in a frame) that are shown beneath it. Save it to your computer, then open it in Paint. Crop off the frame, then select a squarish area from what remains and proceed as above.

If you have some other image editing software on your computer such as Adobe Photoshop, you may find that easier to work with.

Here are two versions I made, the first using Paint and the second using Photoshop. You're welcome to use either.

KC, thanks for cropping these photos. Now how do I add one of these cropped photos to my profile's avatar? I tried typing in the url, but it didn't upload to my profile's avatar?

I don't know why those wouldn't work for you, Gerry. These are the two URLs:

http://img852.imageshack.us/img852/2130/youngclintav.jpg

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/8428/youngclintav2.jpg

They both worked for me when I tested them.

In your profile settings, in Forum Profile Information, the "Personalized Picture" is the first item. Make sure you select the button next to "I have my own pic." Then paste the URL in the box on the right-hand side. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click "Change profile" in the lower right-hand corner. You should see the pic on the page right away.

I hope it helps!

Hey Matt, have you got more of these? :D

Gant has lost his av (of Gant, naturally enough), and this site doesn't seem to offer any "native" avatars any more.

I used the Wayback Machine (https://web.archive.org/web/20060510202925/http://www.clinteastwood.org/forums/index.php?) to retrieve Gant's old avatar, and rehosted it.  It's now here:
