Good for you, antonis.  Steve Everett is a pretty good example to motivate you to give up your vices!

I just wanted to point out that the avatars created for us by Matt that were displayed in the first post in this thread (but have now vanished since his old ISP account was deactivated), as well as some others included in the thread, are now available as a profile option right on this site.

To find them, go to your "Profile" page. Select "Forum Profile Information." At the top you'll see "Personalized Picture." In the list box, select "[Eastwood]." When you've clicked on it, another list box will appear to the right with dozens of avs to choose from. 8)

I had nothing better to do so I decided to move all the avatars that are still showing through this thread down here into one post. Some of these are probably available under our profile options, but I know I had to search through this thread to find my "Schofield Kid" one.

I think it just might make it a little easier than going through all the pages to find one you like if it isn't part of Matt's package that's in our profiles.

All these were originally posted by eustressor, Brendan, Kal Varnsen, Matt and Lilly with the Iwo Jima,Pale Rider and Dirty Harry avatars at the end by me.

Hi, Joe-Kidd_BR, and welcome to the Eastwood Web Board. I'm not quite sure why you posted those pictures in this thread. This is the avatar thread. Did you think these would make good avatars, or was there some other purpose you had in posting them here? ???

On this Board, an avatar (the "Personalized Picture" that appears under your username) is supposed to be 65 x 65 pixels.

SK, some of those aren't proportioned correctly. In fact, only the second from the left is correct, as nearly as I can tell. ???

Those don't look proportioned quite right either ... what program are you using to make them?

Thanks for adding them, though. :)

I use windows paint program. It certainly helps if the picture is fairly square to begin with, so I only have to reduce it in size, the problems arise when I have to stretch/Skew the image.

Is there a better program out there?

Windows Paint isn't good for much. Do you have a scanner? You probably got an image editing program with it, if so. I've used both Corel Photopaint and Adobe Photoshop. Both give you options for resizing images without distorting them.

I know there are some free photo editing programs available, but I've never tried them.

I figured out how to resize an image in Paint without distorting it. Load your image, select a square area, and go to Image and Crop. Then, look at Image and "Attributes." You'll get something like Width 448 Height 465 ... it won't be exactly square. But you can resize it here. Just replace the larger of the two dimensions with the smaller, so the "Attributes" are Width 448 Height 448 (or whatever). Of course, make sure you're not cutting off anything important.

Now you have a square, but bigger than you want. Go to Resize/Skew and figure out what % you need to reduce it by to get it to av size (65 x 65). Hint: Use Windows Calculator and divide 65 by the height/width of your picture. Type that percentage in both Horizontal and Vertical under Resize.

That should do it.

You should lose the Imageshack links, though. Do as I suggested and post the code from the "My Images" page, or just cut out the  [ URL=http://imageshack.us] [ /URL] tags around the [ IMG] [/IMG] tags. That advertisement for "The dumb test" is especially annoying.
