Clint Eastwood will always be Dirty Harry, just as Sean Connery was the ultimate James Bond. I can't see anyone else doing Harry as well. Besides these films were of their time, the cynical seventies, though I suppose you could say things are just as edgy at the moment.

Paul, Hollywood destroyed the greatest British gangster film of all time, Get Carter, when it was remade with Sylvester Stallone. It's best to leave Harry alone, as the films were so of their time.

Dirty Harry (the original) is all about Clint Eastwood in his prime. Great script, brilliant direction and the best characters in film history, in my book. Magnum Force was a good film and The Enfocer was passable but the last two were a joke. They made a mockery of the name Dirty Harry. Why worson it with another?

While I'm on the subject, please no remake with a different Dirty Harry. There is only one Dirty Harry: Clint. Did anyone see the remake of the Italian Job? It was a disgrace. If it int broken don't fix it.

This is exactly how I feel. However with all the remakes I keep reading about, I feel sure it will be done.

They are even turning Fever pitch into a  baseball movie.  >:( >:(

I'd say your instincts are correct.

How long can Hollywood resist?

Not long, I'm afraid  :-\

It's all about money, anyway.

Provided that the original was a box office hit, you can be sure they'll try to do a remake  :(

Then they ruin it.  For example Oceans 11.  Italian Job.  Not good,

I wonder how many successful actors would actually consider playing Harry?

Let me give you an example how lame a new Dirty Harry would be. I read awhile back that Will Smith had the rights to a remake of 'Play Misty For Me'. That basically shows me to where this idea would go...

As good as the Dirty Harry movies are, they should really leave it alone. Even if someone comes up with a good script for Clint Eastwood.  It can't be like James Bond(differant actors playing Dirty Harry).  There is only one Dirty Harry...Clint Eastwood.  In Dirty Harry: The Original, Clint Eastwood said: "Its best to leave a good thing alone".  He absolutely right.

With Warner Bros. and Clint taking a large part in The Collective's next gen console video game adaptation of Dirty Harry, we get more Dirty Harry just in another medium.

I would love another Harry film, can't get enough.  By the way, have you heard Clint is giving his helping hand in creating an XBOX 360 game.  It is going to be his voice and looks etc, etc.  FYI  :D

Hello
I didn't read everyone's responses to this but my question is this..Why do we need another Dirty Harry movie?.Are we talking about  a new actor? Eastwood reprising his role?..

I mean are we serious here?..The man is going to be 76. After Magnum Force it should have stopped. The series got worse and worse. I think Eastwood has certainly tried to do diff scenarios  with cops, The Guantlet, Tightrope and I have lauded him for doing that though I hate the Guantlet, but I can't see how  anyone can possibly think Eastwood would or even attempt another Dirty Harry considering  the fact the man has gone in a totally diff direction in his work. Let's not even discuss how  lame the  sequels  had become.
The Dead Pool should tell you that enough.
