That ends Round 17, and we lose "Bad Boy" and "I'm Down".

BEATLES SONG SURVIVOR - ROUND EIGHTEEN

This round, we'll hear the last song recorded for the "Help" album, "Act Naturally", which was also the last cover song the Beatles would ever release (not counting the little traditional tune "Maggie Mae" from "Let It Be" which the Beatles would create their own arrangement for.) From here on out, all the songs they'd release would be their own compositions.

We'll also start with songs from the sixth Beatles album, "Rubber Soul", released in the U.K. on December, 3, 1965.

Also included this round is "Day Tripper" which was released on the same day as "Rubber Soul" as a double A-side single with "We Can Work It Out".  We'll hear "We Can Work It Out" next round.

As before, vote off two of the following songs, and list an alternate third choice that will only be used as a tie-breaker if needed. The three surviving songs from this round will be brought back later in the game to compete with the other rounds' survivors.

1.  "Act Naturally" (Morrison/Russell); Lead vocal: Starr, with McCartney
2.  "Wait" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon and McCartney
3.  "Run For Your Life" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney and Harrison
4.   "Drive My Car" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon and McCartney, with Harrison
5.   "Day Tripper" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon and McCartney

(When I end a round and start the next, I'll need to take the songs from the previous round down so that the next round's songs will fit on the website. Therefore the links in each round will still show up, but they won't work once that round has ended.)

You can join in the game anytime. You don't need to have been voting from the beginning to play.

When I was a kid, I loved "Run For Your Life", but now it sounds a little creepy to me. (John, imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can... nothing to kill or die for.... ) Actually, I remember reading that John always hated this song. But, it still isn't my first choice this round... Ringo has that honor again.

I used to not think much of "Drive My Car", but that one, as opposed to "Run For Your Life" has grown on me with time. I won't vote that one off yet.

1) Act Naturally
2) Run For Your Life
3) Wait

1   Wait
2   Run For Your Life
3   Act Naturally

A difficult round for me.   The only one I had no bother with was Wait.  I just don't like that track at all.

This is definitely the hardest round so far. None of these songs deserve to be ousted in the first run-through. I'm actually feeling for George here. He's really writing some good stuff now, and while he's recording the best stuff he's ever written, instead of "catching up" to John and Paul, they're just off in warp speed. So, sorry George.... I hate to do this to you again:

1) If I Needed Someone
2) We Can Work It Out
3) Nowhere Man (!!!)

Ouch.

Oh yeah, the toughest round so far.  "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" cannot go this round, as it's one of my absolute favorite songs by The Beatles.  I don't want to vote against any of these songs, but that one for sure must stay.  We're faced here with three classic songs by John, a catchy Paul song, and perhaps the first song by George that rivals that of a great Lennon/McCartney composition.   I must vote:

1 We Can Work It Out
2 If I Needed Someone
3 In My Life

Ufff, this is so hard. Must remain Nowhere Man and Norwegian Wood, so, with all my pain,  kiss goodbye to

1) If I Needed Someone
2) In my life
3)  We Can Work It Out

Now, I am going to cry all day long, if you excuse me
