Matt, check out the Lennon tribute link.
lennon
Lennon ice sculpture. Interesting. As for Beatles tribute bands, there was one in New Jersey that I'd seen a few times in '79 or '80 (I remember the date because during "Revolution", the John Lennon impersonator always yelled, "Free the hostages!" because it was during the Iran hostage crisis, and explained after the show he just felt it was something John would have done. This was 25 years ago, and they're STILL performing their show. And I'm feeling old again. ) There's some clips of them playing some of their songs here, if anyone wants to kill a few minutes. http://www.longlivethebeatles.com/feature_of_the_month.htmlI also saw Beatlemania in Philly back in the late 70s, or early 80's. I loved it.

By the way, I just wanted to say that this game is AWESOME! Allows me to (re)discover their songs, and it's really cool. The only album I got is One the Best Of
Cool. That's what I was hoping for when I started this game... that someone who hadn't yet discovered The Beatles (or didn't know their music very well) would get to hear their music, and it would speak for itself. By listing the albums each of the songs are from, they'd know which ones they'd want by the end of the game. As I've said somewhere else on the board... I'm not a big fan of the compilation albums ( One included), because I think ANY of their studio albums are better than any compilation. Their hits, and the songs that got the most airplay, aren't necessarily their best songs. Of course, One was a big seller, and it did introduce a younger generation to the band.

That ends Round 21. We had a tie again this round, so I used the point system. Here's how the points racked up: "You Won't See Me" - 21, "Love You To" - 17, "Girl" - 14, "Got To Get You Into My Life" - 6, "Tomorrow Never Knows" - 2. So, we lose "You Won't See Me" and "Love You To". BEATLES SONG SURVIVOR - ROUND TWENTY-TWOThis round we continue with "Revolver", as well as the A and B sides of the "Paperback Writer" single, released June 10, 1966. As before, vote off two of the following songs, and list an alternate third choice that will only be used as a tie-breaker if needed. The three surviving songs from this round will be brought back later in the game to compete with the other rounds' survivors. 1. "Paperback Writer" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: McCartney, with Lennon and Harrison 2. "Rain" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney and Harrison 3. "Doctor Robert (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney 4. "Taxman" (Harrison); Lead vocal: Harrison, with Lennon and McCartney 5. "And Your Bird Can Sing" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney (When I end a round and start the next, I'll need to take the songs from the previous round down so that the next round's songs will fit on the website. Therefore the links in each round will still show up, but they won't work once that round has ended.)You can join in the game anytime. You don't need to have been voting from the beginning to play.
