You bet! O0

LP, you'd probably enjoy hearing this version of Mr. Moonlight from Anthology 1. When John sings the first line of the song, his voice breaks and Paul says "Nearly!" Then, it cuts to another take of the song, where John gets it just right. This version was recorded in August, 1964. The version on Beatles For Sale was recorded two months later. What a voice. 8)

Thanks Matt

This is good stuff, I recorded the Anthology series on VHS when it was shown on British TV. I have the book which, great photos apart, is just a transcript of the tv series. I did not buy the cd's as I thought it would be the same again. As it seems I am wrong about this would you say the cd collection is worth having?

would you say the cd collection is worth having?

I think you'd really like it. I'd only recommend the Anthology series to anyone who already has all of The Beatles studio albums, and wants more. It's not for casual fans. Most of Anthology are outtakes and alternate versions of songs they recorded on their studio albums. There's also songs from the Decca audition, a few rarities you won't find on any official release, and a few short interview clips. The booklets inside are loaded with interesting trivia about the recordings.

The Anthology CD series is a totally different product than the DVD series. There's just so many songs on those three double CDs that aren't in the DVD series. If you hear an alternate version of a Beatles song that plays over the ending credits of the Anthology DVD, that's included on the CDs, but that's about the only real comparison, I think.

My recommendation would be to buy the series, but to shop online for good quality used copies (make sure the booklets are included). These CDs are expensive new (US about $37 each) but I got all three double CDs for about the price of one by shopping in the "used" Amazon section. You'll also find them for good prices on eBay.  :)

That ends Round 54. This time we lose "Run For Your Life" and "It's Only Love".

BEATLES SONG SURVIVOR - ROUND FIFTY-FIVE

As before, vote off two of the following songs, and list an alternate third choice that will only be used as a tie-breaker if needed. The three surviving songs from this round will be brought back later in the game to compete with the other rounds' survivors.

1.  "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney
2.  "Nowhere Man" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney and Harrison
3.  "Think For Yourself" (Harrison); Lead vocal: Harrison, with Lennon and McCartney
4.   "The Word" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney and Harrison
5.   "I'm Looking Through You" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: McCartney, with Lennon

(When I end a round and start the next, I'll need to take the songs from the previous round down so that the next round's songs will fit on the website. Therefore the links in each round will still show up, but they won't work once that round has ended.)

You can join in the game anytime. You don't need to have been voting from the beginning to play.

1- The Word
2- I'm Looking Through You

3- Think For Yourself

What's everyone's thoughts on the CD The Beatles Live At The BBC.
I just started playing it again after not hearing it for a while and I like it.There's plenty of cover versions on it,so Gant's probably not a fan of it,but there's also some different versions of songs such as Honey,Don't sung by John not Ringo.
