We had ten people participate in this time-shortened round, so it looks like we can move on to the next round tonight.  :)

And I must be the only person here who prefers the album version of "Revolution" over the single version.

I love them both, but do prefer the single version.

That ends Round 62. This time we lose "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkeyl" and "Cry Baby Cry".

BEATLES SONG SURVIVOR - ROUND SIXTY-THREE

As before, vote off two of the following songs, and list an alternate third choice that will only be used as a tie-breaker if needed. The three surviving songs from this round will be brought back later in the game to compete with the other rounds' survivors.

1.  "Hey Jude" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: McCartney; from Past Masters Vol. 2
2.  "Mother Nature's Son" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: McCartney; from The Beatles (The White Album)
3.  "Sexy Sadie" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney and Harrison; from The Beatles (The White Album)
4. "Yer Blues" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon; from The Beatles (The White Album)
5.   "Dear Prudence" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon; from The Beatles (The White Album)

(When I end a round and start the next, I'll need to take the songs from the previous round down so that the next round's songs will fit on the website. Therefore the links in each round will still show up, but they won't work once that round has ended.)

You can join in the game anytime. You don't need to have been voting from the beginning to play.

What a great group of songs!

1) Mother Nature's Son

Geez, I really don't want to vote off any more!   These last three choices are three of my favorite Lennon songs. But......

2) Sexy Sadie
3) Dear Prudence

3.Mother Natures Son

The "white" album is an incredibly diverse work but I still find it difficult to pick out weakness. I've heard all the arguments that it could have been a great single album but I disagree. The double gives the group space to explore - I don't think it is indulgent they were really at the top of their game. It is a very confident set and quite stripped down in places.

Only a few groups have produced double albums this strong  Led Zepellin - Physical Graffiti
            Pink Floyd - The Wall
Two that spring to mind.

Lin, I thought you were anxious to get rid of this song last time it came up.

Good, I thought the shut down of the highway (both east and west bound  :o) would cause me to miss it. Damn snowfall! Damn truck jackknifing! Damn other, unrelated truck damaging bridge! (though I wasn't affected by that one and I was laughing at the people stopped on the highway until my lane got stopped as well).

But I digress! On with the voting:

1) Mother Nature's Son
2) Dear Prudence

3) Sexy Sadie

That ends Round 63. This time we lose "Mother Nature's Son" and "Sexy Sadie".

BEATLES SONG SURVIVOR - ROUND SIXTY-FOUR

As before, vote off two of the following songs, and list an alternate third choice that will only be used as a tie-breaker if needed. The three surviving songs from this round will be brought back later in the game to compete with the other rounds' survivors.

1.  "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (Harrison); Lead vocal: Harrison; from The Beatles (The White Album)
2.  "Helter Skelter" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: McCartney; from The Beatles (The White Album)
3.  "Birthday" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: McCartney, with Lennon from The Beatles (The White Album)
4. "Piggies" (Harrison); Lead vocal: Harrison, with Lennon and McCartney; from The Beatles (The White Album)
5.   "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney and Harrison; from The Beatles (The White Album)

Well, I think it's time to quit the game. No more voting off anything!   Okay, so it's getting more than a little hard now.

1) Birthday
2) Piggies (how could I vote this off? Well.... look at the others!)

3) Happiness Is A Warm Gun   :'(

I just can't get enough of "Helter Skelter". Man I love that song.

What I think this game has done is given me more of an appreciation for the White Album than I had before. It's amazing how great most of these songs are, especially when we eliminated the McCartney songs that I didn't like the first time through. Now we're left with the cream of the crop.... and does it get better than this on any album?

mgk e-mailed me to tell me about this edition of Dateline that's on NBC tomorrow night at 8:00. Watching stuff like that always tears me up, but I'm going to watch it anyway.
