1- Happiness Is A Warm Gun
2- Piggies

3- Birthday

In the paper yesterday they had a full page article on Chapman and these tapes but I didn't read it,it just depresses me that he's getting all this publicity.

Much like last round with "Hey, Jude", I didn't have to listen to "Helter Skelter" to know I wasn't voting for it.

1) Piggies
2) While My Guitar Gently Weeps

3) Birthday

Could "Helter Skelter" wind up being the sole survivor of the game?  ???

How many more songs are left? And if "She Loves You..." hasn't already been voted off, I'll try and make it hard to get rid of that one. It was the first Beatles song I heard and is one of my favourites.

We're down to 99 songs, including the five in the round that just started.

I highly doubt anything pre-1965 would stand up against the later songs. The one thing about this game that kinda sucks is that there are songs being eliminated which are much stronger than their earlier stuff, but because those early songs are competing against nothing but other early songs in each round, they get to stay longer.

Sexy Sadie shouldn't have gone before a song like Love Me Do, but... what can you do? It seems the only fair way to really run the game, completely unbiased rounds.

Lin, I thought you were anxious to get rid of this song last time it came up.

Re Mother Nature's Son.     Yes but of the ones in this round I could only vote this way.   It is getting very difficult now as I really want the other two off.   The lesser of three evils. ;D ;D ;D

Anyway it has gone now!!!!

What I think this game has done is given me more of an appreciation for the White Album than I had before. It's amazing how great most of these songs are, especially when we eliminated the McCartney songs that I didn't like the first time through. Now we're left with the cream of the crop.... and does it get better than this on any album?

It's always been my favorite Beatles album, and pooh to anyone who thinks it should have been cut to a single LP.  What other rock album so seamlessly covers the whole genre of rock and popular music?  Practically everything's covered, from straight rock to country to blues to metal to the experimental noise of "Revolution 9" to a couple of songs that would have made good show tunes, etc -- and it all just sounds cool.  I even like Ringo's song (though I do dislike "Good Night").

That ends Round 64. This time we lose "Piggies" and "Birthday".

BEATLES SONG SURVIVOR - ROUND SIXTY-FIVE

As before, vote off two of the following songs, and list an alternate third choice that will only be used as a tie-breaker if needed. The three surviving songs from this round will be brought back later in the game to compete with the other rounds' survivors.

1.  "Savoy Truffle" (Harrison); Lead vocal: Harrison; from The Beatles (The White Album)
2.  "Long, Long, Long" (Harrison); Lead vocal: Harrison; from The Beatles (The White Album)
3.  "I'm So Tired"(Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon, with McCartney; from The Beatles (The White Album)
4. "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: McCartney; from The Beatles (The White Album)
5.   "Julia" (Lennon/McCartney); Lead vocal: Lennon; from The Beatles (The White Album)

(When I end a round and start the next, I'll need to take the songs from the previous round down so that the next round's songs will fit on the website. Therefore the links in each round will still show up, but they won't work once that round has ended.)

You can join in the game anytime. You don't need to have been voting from the beginning to play.

I wonder if you can get this on the internet Matt.  Sounds like it would be cool.

A very early Beatles radio broadcast.

HERE

Edited for more info.

It is on at 8.00 pm UK time tonight 19th November.   Once it has been played you can access it on 'Listen Again' by clicking on radio 4 and choosing Archive Hour.   What is on right now is the previous broadcast of Archive Hour.
