Good morning from The American Midwest-USA:

Well, I finally found the golf subject....after all this time.....oh well....

A few messages ago, there was a question about any other golf movies and I think I might have a classic for great viewing:

FOLLOW THE SUN (1951) with GLENN FORD playing the role of BEN HOGAN.

It is black and white but I thought it was a fine job, I was only about 14 or 15 the first time I saw it....In those days golf was not in my life, so I didn't understand lots of things.  I'd love to see it again someday...I'm not sure it is available on tape or DVD...

I am enjoying your comments about golf and I will try sharing a few things at a later date.....we are moving again and I have had to postpone golf for awhile....

    Respectfully,
    from TROY, OHIO-USA

New Zealander Michael Campbell won the 2005 U.S. Open today, played a great final round of 69 to hold off Tiger Woods who also shot a 69 but couldn't sink the putts that mattered on the closing holes. No Grand Slam for Tiger this year.Aussie Mark Hensby finished a respectable equal third after a final round of 74.Third round leader Retief Goosen had a day to forget shooting 81 and finishing tied for sixth.

280 – Michael Campbell (NZL) 71-69-71-69
282 – Tiger Woods 70-71-72-69
285 – Sergio Garcia (SPA) 71-69-75-70, Tim Clark (RSA) 76-69-70-70, Mark Hensby (AUS) 71-68-72-74 286 – Davis Love 77-70-70-69, Rocco Mediate 67-74-74-71, Vijay Singh (FIJ) 70-70-74-72

Sure was a fantastic U.S. Open...  I was kind of rooting for Tiger and the Grand Slam and all but was happy to see this guy Mark Cambell win it...  As soon as Tiger missed his putt on 16 and Cambell made his on 17 I knew it was over...  Couldn't believe Tiger couldn't get it on the green on the first and second holes...Donald Ross is up there having a laugh or two with Payne Steward... :)

some of the conditions were stupid though, to think that on saturday tiger was in the trees and hensby was in the rough, but tiger had a better lie. it wasn't as bad as shinnecock but the greenskeepers need to wake up, it's not about trying to embarass the best golfers in the world. campbell played very well on the last day, i backed him on saturday night at 25-1. The Shark is coming back!

Quote
Norman to play Open
June 24, 2005

GREG Norman is planning to contest next month's British Open, less than four months after major back surgery.
A spokesman for Norman confirmed today that the two-time Open champion will tee-off at St Andrews from July 14-17, barring an unexpected setback.
"Greg's back is doing very well, and he's looking forward to resuming his competitive schedule," said Brian Stephens.
The Shark plans to return to competition at the US Senior Players Championship the week before the British Open.
It will be his first start on the over-50 Champions Tour, and the first of a planned stretch of five tournaments in as many weeks, with the Senior British Open, the US Senior Open and the US PGA Tour's International also on the schedule.
Norman had back surgery in late March after years of pain which prevented him from playing a full schedule, forcing him to pull out of a string of events.

Hey little bill, you must be happy with Harrington's win today. What about that putt for eagle on the last hole,it never looked like missing.Don't think Furyk was too impressed after bogies at 16 and 17 then missing the fairway on the 18th.Kind of makes up for last year when Harrington lost the playoff to Garcia.

ah it was brilliant, i couldn't believe it when it dropped, i knew it was going to be close but it was awesome when it went in.
he's a nice guy, off home to see his dad who's riddled with cancer, they expected him to die before the masters, thats why harro wasn't playing to well. but he's held on.
bad time for irish golfers at the moment, darren clarkes wife is seriously ill with cancer as well, that why he's left the tour for a while, but news is she's doing well.

Anyone tried the golf balls made by "Bridgestone"?I saw them advertised tonight during the British open and never knew they even make golf equipment.I think Fred Couples was the player they used in the ad.I"d be very interested to know if they are any good.

freddie has a bridgestone bag alright, but like most players he takes the money for the ad, wears the logo, but plays something else. freddie to the best of my reckoning is playing the maxfli black max tour.
