Sorry this is off topic.
I have never liked Sony televisions.

The last couple of posts ARE pretty far off topic. Maybe someone should start a "Sony Rant Thread" in the Off Topic forum.
Meanwhile, if anyone hears any news about when these discs are likely to be released in the U.S., or anything else relevant to their release elsewhere ... please feel free to post it here.

It will be great to hear of a release date. I think you USA members have waited long enough.

My apologies for chasing rabbits. The frustration and anticipation for the other special editions of the Leone classics stirred up my anger a bit towards Sony. To run things back on topic, I am curious what the boxart will look like for the Region 1 release...

No, meridico....we have a right to be angry why we're not getting the releases or at least the release DATE of the two. They should have some kind of promo OR pre-promo for us!

Latest news on the German releases is that they have done this very nice Limited box set.
The word on these transfers is that they are the best. One thing that is correct is the original mono soundtracks.

That looks fantastic. Why can't it be like that in the UK? Thanks for posting it Philo.

Sorry icnmedia,
Didn't mean to be unkind, just posting the news.
I have ordered this set mostly for the mono sound.
Will post my comments when I have looked at it.

If that watch plays the tune from the movie, I'd import that German version of For a Few Dollars More just to get my hands on that collectible!

I think it is a working watch .... not sure about the tune.
The mono sound will be a joy to hear. Usually I am getting into the film and some silly modern sound effect will kick in and slam the brakes on the viewing pleasure.

Saw today a complete UK box set of the three dollar films and Fistful of dynamite.
The box had Sony pictures on the back unlike the single editions, so why they can't now get these released for the US viewers beats me.

My limited box from Germany arrived last week. I have yet to open it.
I did find out that these versions are from HD masters. This and other info and some great pics of the box, watch etc are on the following Ebay auction .... 6569152744
I have had to post the auction number as the seller has not allowed anything to be "right clicked". This seller is asking far too much for the set, I got mine for over half less that offered here. The seller does say that the set is already sold out. All I can add is that they are numbered.
Check out the great pics.

Philo, open it so you can tell us about the watch. Does it play the tune?

Hi Matt,
Sadly I have just arrived at a friends where I am staying for a couple of days. We get together and go through old tv recordings.
I won't be home until late Wednesday night. I will then open it.
I also noticed that the item below the film frame display is a coin.

I have to honest with my pleasure this set offers, not only on the technical side, but Clint's items seldom get the deluxe treatment.
Having visited Germany several times, I am not surprised that they would produce work to this standard.
One main change is these are from Paramount, who have not always been the best for bonus features on their titles.

Just got my German discs from the postman (incl My Name Is Nobody). Taken a quick look at FAFDM and thought it was instantly apparent how improved the dialogue is with the lip movements of the actors. The guy from TLE Films did say something about how they'd tried to resync the dialogue in order to improve the sometimes deadful dubbing. The opening scene in the carriage, for example, where the guy is telling Mortimer how the train doesn't stop at Tucumcari is a huge improvement over my old ITV copy. I haven't seen the MGM DVD but I've read therewas no equivalent work caried out on their 5.1 upmix. Also the mono sound on this German release is so nice to hear - very little in the way of hiss or crackle - even with the sound cranked up.
I'm very pleased with what I've seen so far. Now to take a look at FoD.

Grizzled, does the watch play the tune? I'm ordering the German set if it does.
