This is the Movie Night discussion thread for Tightrope. We'll meet here up to an hour before we start rolling the film on Saturday, February 24th. For anyone who'd like to join us ... have your Tightrope DVD ready to play that night. Check here to see what time we'll be starting the film in your area: U.S. West Coast (PST) - 2:00 PM Mid-U.S. (CST) - 4:00 PM U.S. East Coast (EST) - 5:00 PM Great Britain, Portugal (GMT, WET) - 10:00 PM France, Italy (CET) - 11:00 PM Finland (EET) - Midnight New South Wales, Australia (EST) - 9:00 AM, Feb. 25 If anyone needs to check any other time zones, this is the converter I used: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.htmlWe'll be starting the movie at the first frame of the film: (You can actually hear a note or two of the music just before the Warner Bros. logo appears onscreen.) Set up your movie here, and pause. We'll all be hitting "Start" at exactly the top of the hour. We'll be taking three short breaks during the film. The first break is just before the end of Chapter 9 (31:13 on the R-1 DVD): This is just after the wrestling scene: Block, having been told by the dwarf "referee" to "Try the blonde with the big bazookas" watches a girl (Becky) whom he had encountered in a tattoo parlor wrestle with another girl. Then we see this sign, and Block exits with Becky. The second break is at the beginning of Chapter 18 (1:03:16 on the R-1 DVD): This is just after the scene in the old warehouse: Block meets a young blond man at Praline's, who tells him the killer has "bought me for you" and says he is expecting to be paid in the warehouse. Block tells him to go collect, and follows. He finds the blond man hanging, dead. The third break is at the beginning of Chapter 26 (1:32:56 on the R-1 DVD): After the killer's attack on his family, Block has accompanied his older daughter Amanda to the hospital. He returns to his deserted, violated house and trashes his own bedroom, to the bewilderment of his one surviving dog. Just after that, there's a cut to his younger daughter Penny, lying asleep at Beryl's place. I hope we'll have a big turnout! Anyone who plans to join who hasn't done so yet is encouraged to "sign in" in the main "Movie Night" thread: Maybe it's time to call for a "show of hands." Who CAN join us to watch Tightrope on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 5:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time?
Remember, the Tightrope "movie discussion" is still open. If you haven't posted there yet, we hope you'll be inspired to do so by this Movie Night!

Time to start making the popcorn! I wanted to mention one thing that should help make this thread more fun for everyone. By default, this board gives you a warning message when someone else has posted while you're writing a post. That can get very frustrating in the heat of things in these threads ... but now the feature can be turned off, temporarily (or permanently if you prefer). To turn it off, click the link on the brown bar near the top of the page to your profile: You'll go to your profile page. On the left-hand side, there's a list of stuff you can do here including "Modify profile." Under that heading, click the link to "Look and Layout Preferences." Now you'll see some choices with little white checkboxes next to them. One of them is "Don't warn on new replies made while posting." Click in that box so there's a check mark there. Then, in the lower right hand corner, click "Change profile" and you're all set. I find it also helps to use the keyboard shortcut when posting: alt+s. (Or in the latest version of Firefox, alt+shift+s.)

How do you guys like it in the movie nights, the recent post on top or on the bottom of the page? I was thinking, is it easier on top, you wouln't have to roll tha page down every time you post??
Good point, satu, that's another thing you can change in your profile; put a check mark next to "Show most recent posts at the top." (Though personally, I want to read through everyone else's posts before I post!) You can also use the "Quick Reply" feature: At the bottom of each thread is a brown bar with "Quick Reply" on the left hand corner. If you don't have it enabled, that's all you'll see and there will be a plus sign to the left of "Quick Reply." Click the plus sign, and a reply box will open beneath the brown bar and will stay there until you click the sign (now a minus) next to "Quick Reply" again. You can type your post right in this box and don't have to wait for a "Reply" page to open. It's a little harder to use smilies, though, unless you remember all the shortcuts!
