I know there a plenty of threads already about Eastwood related books, and doing a search last night, I came across so many topics, I thought this is crazy. We should have one thread with a complete list. So here is it.

I searched the threads we already have and have put those books on this list (there may be more that I missed), plus a couple that I have. Anyone who has a book not listed please post it and any comments you have about it and I'll add it to this list, and everytime someone mentions a book or a new book is released I can keep modifying this first post. If possible please add the title, author and year of release.
This will only be books about Clint and/or his films, or books by/on others that Clint is featured prominently. No books that Clint made into films or film tie-in books please.

Thanks Lin, I'll add the ones I haven't got. Is it possible to get the year of release of those ones. If not, don't worry.

I'm a librarian. We'll get a definitive list on here, no worries ... marked up for MARC if you like. ;)

I think I had around forty to fifty titles on my list but I haven't updated it in a while. I'm in the process of moving files between computers, but should be able to attend to this shortly.

Or, of course ... talk about not reinventing the wheel ... one could just go to worldcat.org and put in an "advanced search" on the subject "Eastwood, Clint."

http://www.worldcat.org/search?q=su%3Aeastwood%2C+clint&qt=advanced

I got 192 hits. :D

Not all of those are books, of course (but why not include documentary videos on our list?) What would really make this worthwhile would be if we could produce an annotated list, with comments about each book/video by someone who's read it or watched it. That would be a project.

Yeah, that would sure be nice ... and very helpful too. But that demands a lot of work. I could probably help, but I'm so busy right now I wouldn't be able to help until say a couple of years  :D :D

I've been too busy to get back to this, also! Did anyone check out the list at WorldCat.org? (Hint: select format "Book" (124 hits), then sort by "Date: Increasing.")

I had a quick look just to get the dates for the books I didn't have, so I could put them in order.

At Schirmer Encyclopedia of Film, volume 3, there is a reference to the following book

Horizons West: Directing the Western from John Ford to Clint Eastwood
by Jim Kitses, London, British Film Institute, 2004

not quite sure if it belongs in this thread, but the book has an entire chapter on Clint Eastwood.

I have Horizons West ... the chapter on Eastwood is called "Clint Eastwood: Tightrope Walker." I've only skimmed it so far, though.

I'd forgotten about this thread. I was suprised when I saw I started it over a year ago.

Anyway I went through the worldcat.org list and added plenty that weren't on the list including some written in other languages other than english.

I was quite suprised I didn't run out of room in the post.

I have only The Films Of Clint Eastwood by Boris Zmijewsky & Lee Pffeiffer (1982)

I found and bought this book in a library right here in Brasil. I was 18 year old or something I when I got home I showed to my dad, as he said:

"but...it's whole written in English!" (at that time my english was even worse that it is today so he thought I wouldn't able to translate it ;D)

"No dad it's only some excerpts..."
"No it's the whole book!"
 :D

This pic is in the page 34, I love it.

The WorldCat link I posted above now gives you 150 books, out of 227 total hits! :D

EDIT: I should note that in this context, "Books" includes print material such as pressbooks and other publicity material, such as the Danish booklet "Han kom, han så, han skød!" ("He came, he saw, he shot!" aka Two mules for Sister Sara). The results list also includes some impossible items, such as an alleged pressbook promoting a film not known to me, titled The Outlaw Josie Wales.

99% of all library cataloging is done by idiots.

The World Cat list now comprises around 380 items classed as "books," though quite a few of them are either duplicate records or variant editions of the same title (including e-books, large print editions, etc.) and translations. It's a good way to check out the latest stuff, though, if you select "Sort by Date: Newest first."
