The first month of summer this year has produced some scorchers already. 7 or 8 days where the temp has surpassed 40ºC!!

The heat never bothered me as a kid but the older I get it really knocks me around now.

Just the opposite here. We're having a really unusual extended December cold wave! :o

It's 16° F (-9° C) here now, and I don't think it's been above 20° F (-6.7° C) since Christmas Day.  It may get up to the 20s today, but then it's going to snow ... then back to the deep freeze through at least the beginning of next week.

And New York has it good compared with the Midwest ... in Chicago it's 7°F/-14°C, in Duluth, MN, it's -3° F/-19°C!

Just after 1 AM in NYC, 1/1/2018 ... it is 6°F/-15°C here now. I can't imagine how people managed to stand for hours in Times Square waiting for midnight! :o

Just saw some footage of severe freezing flood waters in Boston. Hope Brian is safe and well?

Is it unusual to have this amount of snow so late in winter?

We're supposed to get one to three inches tomorrow. After a downpour of rain. March is not for sissies.

It's quite unusual for us to have snow at all.... Hence we're not really geared up for dealing with it..

I'm off work today and tomorrow because of how cold it is. Temperatures are below zero (Fahrenheit) and the wind chill makes it feel quite a bit worse.

Here in New York it's a balmy 6° F/-14.4 C ... down from around 32° F/0° C earlier today. It's supposed to drop a few more degrees during the night. I am seriously contemplating skipping my run tomorrow morning.

SK ... I was going to post this in the Aussie thread, but here is better. It will make our Polar Vortex sufferers feel a little warmer:

Across Australia, Yet Another Scorching Summer

Wow!  I really can't complain about Nashville's 17 degrees tonight. I heard some people saying it was minus 27 degrees (in Wisconsin) today.  :o

When I left the house to go to work today, it was 7 degrees Fahrenheit. 7 degrees! I was NOT happy  >:(

I am working from home tomorrow, so hopefully I will be able to avoid feeling like I live in Alaska.

And today was the third day I didn't have to go to work because of bad weather. :D Last night we got hit with snow. The roads were a mess this morning. But it's going to be in the 40s/50s over the next week.

We've had our share of it around here too. Must have made its way across the ocean!
