OK. That was a good one. You got me too.
Anyway, what's the big secret behind all this? Just say what the movie is about and move on. I really don't understand it.

The film is in pre-production. Very little is confirmed.  There is no cast at this point. We don't even know who the writer is.
However, Clint is slated to direct and star in a film called Gran Torino.

Warner Bros. has kept Gran Torino such a big secret, it's unclear when the movie will begin shooting,
or if it has already begun production.  Warner Bros. has been quiet about his project & that makes me think "Dirty Harry."

It has a December 2008 release date, so I think we should know a lot more soon.
I'm holding him to that because Clint's really a man of his word.

Million Dollar Baby was shot in June/July 2004 and released in December 2004.
Letters from Iwo Jima, which was shot March/April 2006 and released December that same year.

It may be a coincidence that these three movies see December as a release, maybe Clint likes December so much, his movies
must be released for that month.  I don't know, I'm not a doctor.

The Clint Eastwood Forums bring fans, like us, together to discuss topics about our favorite living legend.
We have a great habit of keeping each other posted about certain "Clint - related" events.

All five Dirty Harry films are being re-released in HD DVD and loaded with new special features.  Lalo Schifrin has the Sudden Impact
soundtrack being released in a month, and I'm still on the edge about whether The Dead Pool OST will ever see the light of day.

And, yes, the supposed 6th Dirty Harry film, Gran Torino.  Stick around.
Chin up, you two.  When we know something, you'll know something.  :)

Nothing real new with this post as it echos what some others have said, but for what it's worth, I did find this paragraph on a website:

Our source tells us this will be a simple, quiet and compelling drama about Walt (Eastwood), a rural bigot who finds his outlook on life changed after a family of Hmong immigrants move into the home next to his own, striking up a friendship with the family's teenaged son Tao over the older man's now-classic car

Thanks, exit00 ... it's a good idea to check the dates on these things, then look back in this thread to see if they're already here. Your Ropeofsilicon item is dated March 21, and the quote you posted is from an article on FilmJerk.com that originally appeared on March 20. The FilmJerk item was linked to back on  page 3 of this thread, and the quote you posted appears on page 4;)

Unless I am reading this wrong,  the IMDB says Gran Torino "follows Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact, and the Dead Pool..."  Look under "Fun Facts" ...

This ain't no April Fools joke.   If you don't believe me, go there for yourselves !

          Isn't the IMDB a reliable source ??

Isn't the IMDB a reliable source ??

After last year when they posted that the actress Nancy Allen had died, when in fact she hadn't. I'm sceptical of anything I see over there now, until it becomes official.

Blu, if you will look at the main "Gran Torino" page on the IMDb, it says "Status Updated: 18 March 2008." That is actually one day BEFORE the news was posted on this board.

I've merged your thread into the main "Gran Torino" thread. I don't think we need more than one thread about this project as yet. ;)

EDIT: And no, the IMDb isn't a particularly reliable source. I'd say it falls somewhere between Wikipedia and The Sun. ;)

P.S., Blu, I don't know why the link wasn't working in your first post; I opened it in edit mode, and as soon as I hit "Preview," the link turned "live," though I hadn't changed anything.

Sorry about the extra topic KC.  I got a little over-exuberant thinking this was "proof" that it was a new DH.  The IMDb is user updated, but I thought they had a "fact checker" to research things before they published anything... I didn't recall seeing that info under IMDB Gran Torino "Fun Facts" until Friday (4/4).  As for the link, I still haven't mastered these "nuts & bolts" of modern computer systems, so I dunno.  To much info to absorb these days...   :D   :P

Well, the IMDb does have some editorial intervention, but I think a lot of stuff still gets put up without much oversight. It's possible that the "Movie Connections" link wasn't up from the start, but whoever added it did it just on the basis of the early rumors that were flying. ;)
